3-D carnation
Of all the luxurious Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Collection, Velvet Love is the most unusual and the only i would consider having (I liked Velvet Vetiver too, but as the others, it is a quite safe fragance, despite being executed with ingredients of a very fine quality)

Velvet Love contains a wonderful carnation. If i had to buy in this very moment a carnation fragance it would be a tough call between Velvet Love and Etro´s Dianthus, that i remember being greener. I have to say, the pink suede of the bottle (and let alone the name) is quite off-putting, and in my opinion, misleading, since you expect something tender and fluffy and ultra-femenine.
The scent of carnation is quite unique but sometimes in my head it blends with the (i had to look it up in the dictionary) hoary stock scent, that we call "alheli" here and it is a much prettier name. Now that both are growing in my terrace, i see that while they share a clove-ish spiciness, the carnation is warmer and deeper, while the stock is more high pitched and expansive. In Serge Lutens Vitriol d´Oeillet (that i like quite a lot, too) they come together, but Velvet Love is unmistakably a carnation fragance. I wonder if they have used authentic carnation absolute for this (it could be, considering the price) but if not, the construction of this note is wonderful.

The ingredients list is pretty eloquent by itself. Carnation, pepper, ylang. And heavy doses of all of them. The furious carnation has here some bright green facets, specially in the beginning (a chartreuse green ones, mind you) and settles in a very spicy white floral, smartly balanced with a dusty, caustic black pepper on one side, and the ylang enhancing the dense, intoxicating lily quality of the fragance. It is a strong perfume, good sillage, but despite its intensity, Velvet Love is extremely smooth, and wont catch you gasping for air. The peaks of each ingredient have been aligned so we have an even surface where all this materials are perfectly blended in an almost invisible creamy, doughy, slightly smoky, vanilla and heliotrope base.

Sexy Flower Tree
Don't worry, I won't bite - - - I'll devour you whole.
Cloves are not my favorite flowers. I associate them with funerals and old age.
They come in various shapes, colors, and names, but still... I can't stand them.
Then there's the smell. So pungent, spicy, and then that sweet *shake*. Nah!
BUT ---> In Velvet Love, the clove is not a "clove" as I know it. On the contrary. It smells really great *cough*.
Spicy-sweet. Samsara, Roma, and even Boudoir also have clove as a fragrance note and almost the same "greatness" (I'm talking about the vintage scents). Then paired with Ylang Ylang... very fine. The listed pepper note... well, okay, it smells a bit sharp, ticklish in the nose, but that's about it. Works for me!
And then the headache candidate: Ylang Ylang
Too much of it and I feel like I do with hyacinths. Unbearable!
BUT ---> In Velvet Love, Ylang Ylang is the "flower of flowers," erotic, intense, sweet, feminine, sensual, unique. It gives every perfume the unique sensuality of a woman, which Chanel No. 5 also made its own. Especially at night, the Ylang Ylang scent unfolds strongly, intoxicatingly.
Ylang Ylang also has the special gift of relaxing and bringing our soul back into its own balance. A soothing bath or an oil lamp with Ylang Ylang flower oil helps our body to unwind and let go, and it inspires our imagination with sensual feelings and joy of life. This valuable and balancing ingredient helps stressed and anxious people through more creativity, self-confidence, and creative power. It provides a sense of security and simultaneously releases blocked emotions. A massage oil with the aphrodisiac, essential oil stimulates the senses, relieves sexual tension, and helps with impotence.
In perfumes, the sensual scent of the Ylang Ylang flower penetrates our subconscious and appeals to our sensuality and sexuality, so we perceive a sweetly seductive fragrance. In common parlance, the Ylang Ylang tree is also called the perfume tree.
.
For my feelings, a very feminine, erotic scent. Spicy, sweet, lush. However, one must like Ylang Ylang, as it is really very dominant.

Pepper Bomb - that's not love!
Very much pepper, a little garden clove, Ylang-Ylang is suffocated to death by the pepper bucket... When I press my nose very close to my wrist, I can also smell amber, although it's not listed in the pyramid. Nothing to do with love... What a pity.

p.s. After an hour it turns into ...sim-balabim, schwabra-kadabra ... what do you think? Right, Donna Karan Black Cashmere.

My Narcissus
I was particularly curious about this one. The pyramid reads minimalist. A simple, natural clove? Not with Dolce and Gabbana!
Already upon spraying, I notice: This smells very familiar to me... *thinking*... ah, the good old Chloe Narcisse! Immediately dug it out and applied it to the other arm.
Velvet Love has a bit less apricot sweetness, but exactly the same spicing (cinnamon without clove, pepper, I can identify benzoin); more modest sillage, not as intense, but the same floral mix (marigold, ylang-ylang, narcissus around the garden clove, maybe also a violet leaf and surely a few roses and jasmine)!
The similarity remains throughout, VL a bit more vanilla and everything flatter and on low heat, which Narcisse has.
It feels like someone bought the recipe and modernized it. As a reformulation, it would easily pass!

For clove fans, this could mean the end of the search. I've never smelled clove so fine, soft, and elegant before. Super!

sensual-spicy, non-sticky-sweet, powerful and with depth
an unusual combination of clove with ylang creates a velvety floral shawl

The name fits - velvety + sensual, caressing clove + ylang. Not too lush. The clove brings a spicy touch. Lightly sweet.

I love this velvet. I guess I've outed myself as a clove fan. But it's more of a scent for the colder season.

Super velvety clove scent with a hint of pepper at the start. Otherwise, there’s no further development. Only for clove fans.

Velvety autumn scent, for me more clove than flower. I can't imagine a man wearing it.

In this blend of clove and ylang, the clove definitely takes the lead. I could swear I smell spice clove too. Strong scent.

Very interesting clove, surrounded by spices, definitely not an everyday scent. Lasts long. Overall, a true enrichment!

First a lot of pepper, then a lovely blooming carnation, not too rich/heavy/old-fashioned. H/S could be stronger or more powerful. I like it!

An uncomplicated yet very erotic scent. Delicate, feminine, velvety, flattering. Close to the body, but by no means shy.
