Interesting Facts

Many fragrance labels usually bridge two related creative worlds, inspirational art and bold perfume. In the case of Imaginary Authors, the brand's fragrances follow an intriguing storyline peppered with fascinating twists. The brand's conception and philosophy are particularly closely tied to literary art.

“Imaginary Authors” was established by perfumer Josh Meyer. An avid reader of novels, poems, and essays, Meyer founded his label with the intention of developing each fragrance exactly like a literary work. “Scent is art, and art is provocation” is Josh Meyer's credo that led him to name his company “Imaginary Authors” and to refer to his employees as those imaginary authors. Like a good book, each of the label's fragrances should narrate an exciting, joyful, surprising story. Ideally, each creation of Josh Meyer should enhance its wearer's life.

“The Soft Lawn” was the first fragrance in 2012, with a green-fresh aroma. Distinctive olfactory creations followed, such as the floral-fresh “L'Orchidée Terrible” (2012), the smoky-woody “A City On Fir” (2014) or even the floral-sweet “Decisions, Decisions” (2020), all of which are unisex.

“Imaginary Authors” also draws inspiration from literature for its flacons. Like a book cover, each bottle has its own and theme-based design. The shape of the bottles is always soberly rectangular, with a significantly colorful and distinctive design. (collages, art nouveau, pop art, etc.)
