Not Cologne Water
The two older remixes have really impressed me.
Especially the 2017 Ur-Remix shows how one can completely modernize a formulation that is tried and tested but also slightly outdated, without betraying the core idea of the original. The 2017 remix is thoroughly 4711 - just much better. The orange 2018 variant is also true 4711. The familiar DNA is clearly audible, but the focus is cheerfully smiling and shifted towards fruity-fresh.
The pale, slightly musty scent that the original 4711 tends to develop after the first stage burns out is completely absent in both. Both are citrusy, pleasantly herbal, completely unsweetened, cologne-typical moderate longevity, very refreshing and radiantly bright.
For a few weeks now, the 2019 remix has been on the shelves and “it’s so completely different from its brother.” The 4711 DNA is almost entirely missing. It has a noticeably duller appearance, is sweeter, very powdery, almost creamy. Little radiance, hardly any freshness. For me, it is not a 4711 variation, but a completely independent scent in Cologne strength.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I quite enjoy the scent despite the existing sweetness and I’m debating whether I should buy it after all. Only in the first seconds does a bitter citrus note shine through, fresh notes briefly sizzle, but I can hardly catch the promised lavender and then there’s the iris powder with a dragee-like delicate sweetness. This powdery note remains and then becomes the heart note. By the way, a pleasant childhood memory: My grandmother had a body powder in an oval tin bottle that had a small neck with a shaker on top. This powder smelled wonderful, delicately sweet, soft, mild, embracing. That’s how the 2019 remix smells.
The longevity is not bad at all; the scent is perceptible on my skin for almost four hours with extremely reduced sillage. On clothing, it lasts longer with an increased projection at arm's length.
The similarity to “Infusion d’Iris” has been mentioned several times, which I am wearing for comparison on the other wrist.
The Prada scent remains on the drier side throughout the comparison period, is continuously less sweet with a delicate pencil woodiness, and has significantly higher staying power. Remix is softer, fluffier, and sweeter. And disappears faster.
However, I don’t quite like the Infusion as much, because on my skin, a kind of eraser smell develops in the heart note for a certain time, about half an hour, the origin of which I cannot place.
Therefore, my personal winner of this comparison is the remix, despite the sweetness, and it clearly wins the price duel anyway.

**Addendum, September 19:**
The summer is over and I did not wear the 2019 remix this summer.
**It doesn’t work in heat**
and that really distinguishes it fundamentally from the other editions. In heat, it becomes dull, musty, dusty. It works best in moderate temperatures, and therefore I will wear it again from now on - that is, the second half of September.

That was also my first impression; not a remix, but a completely new recording. A lovely comment!

Nice comment! But it doesn't really make your mouth - or nose - water, does it? Is there still body powder available here (other than for babies)?

It doesn't remind me at all of Infusion d’Iris (Infusion is very sharp for my nose), but it does remind me a bit of "Eau Pure" by Biotherm :)

How wonderfully and fabulously you've described it... now I'm considering if it should go into the Easter egg.

Thanks for the reminder. Yagatan had already made it "appealing" to me.

I feel the same way. I tested it yesterday but didn't buy it (instead, I got the one from 2018) since it's no longer available in my town, and I regretted not buying it last year. After spraying the 2019 version, I felt (like I did with the 2018 last year) that it wasn't really necessary. However, on my way home - I specifically went to the city center - I decided that it should be part of my collection after all. It's wonderfully soft and creamy.
