Freshness with barbs
With the temperatures of the last time of course also I fished out the refreshing, cooling smells from my sample boxes.
The selection is quite large, so I preferred "Colonia Assoluta" from Acqua di Parma before I threw myself into the next scent turmoil.
"Colonia Assoluta" - that sounds great; the absolute Cologne: well, let's see!
But "Hello!" - who's going to extend their elbows here?
Immediately a quite sharp spearhead of fragrances pushes itself into the foreground. I haven't been able to find out who has to position themselves like this yet.
Is it really the fresh, spicy top note of bergamot, bitter orange and a wonderful dose of pimento?
There's no time to think about it: a glowing, mature jasmine is coming along, casually lounging on large green cushions of vetiver and cedar.
This scented heart seems pretty pert, but gets a soft glow through a powerful gift of Ylang-Ylang. That's good!
Oak moss, resin and patchouli appear here in a classic way and musk doesn't get out of hand either.
So it should all be very nice.
Actually, it contains everything that should make up a fresh and aromatic summer scent.
So what irritates me about "Colonia Assoluta"?
For me this fragrance composition, which I expected so much from, has some spines and quite sharp teeth.
Because not only my sense of smell did not feel good; I also got many little pustules on my stomach!
Yes, on my stomach!
With many fragrances I use the belly as a projection surface - there is more space; experience has shown that this is also a place where more warmth develops than e.g. at wrists and elbows.
So I am not happy with this test result at all; in addition, "Colonia Assoluta" stays with me relatively long.
Despite the big name and some advance praise on my part, Adolfo Dominguez' "Agua Fresca" won this summer fragrance competition - and with lengths.
I have already left my surprising visit in a commentary.
What surprises will the other samples of "Acqua di Parma" hold?
