The opening lacks pleasant citrus notes; aside from the bergamot, the orange is quite noticeable. The bergamot is somewhat more bitter and astringent than the lemon, and it becomes apparent after a few minutes. That scent is truly delicious; after a few hours, it settles on the skin with a creamy undertone. I applied it 5 hours ago and I can still smell it. No ADP is going to be a beast mode by any means, but I think it's a beautiful option.

When it comes to authentic citrus scents, Acqua di Parma is already a sure bet. But what they have delivered with the La Spugnatura Edition (a traditional, extremely labor-intensive extraction method using sponge pressing) is truly genius!

The fragrance starts off so incredibly authentic citrus-fresh that it almost takes your breath away.

Forget artificial lab lemons or sterile refreshing wipes. The scent transports you right into a field in Calabria in the middle of summer. You stand among the trees, helping with the harvest. To cool off, you take a ripe fruit straight from the branch, cut it open right in the field, and squeeze it with your hands. The juice splatters, the essential oils from the peel shoot up your nose. It is this pure, juicy freshness without any artificial sweetness.

There is also a certain green note, but not a dark green, rather the vibrant, energetic feeling of experiencing pure, unadulterated fruit juice and the bitter peel directly on your skin.

Even in the heart note, this wonderfully authentic citrus presence remains the absolute main player. Only in the later drydown does it lose its zesty acidity and instead becomes slightly woody and pleasantly creamy.

Now let's address the inevitable topic with such natural citrus scents: longevity. It is rather moderate and falls into similar ranges as some of Tom Ford's blue summer classics. This is simply due to the nature of the volatile ingredients. But the good news is: If you don't hold back and spray generously (even on your clothes), you will be enveloped in a beautiful, extremely elegant sillage in the first hours, bringing an instant smile to those around you.

For me, one of the best and most realistic citrus fragrances available on the market.

Bergamotto La Spugnatura starts, as expected, zesty and fresh. You get a wonderful bergamot in a pure, authentic, and clean form. Mandarin and orange are also subtly perceptible and wonderfully integrated. I also perceive a minimal creaminess in the background. This is comparable to that of Zest di Sorrento, yet the scent here is overall fresher.

The bergamot remains present longer than I initially suspected - which is great, as it is truly excellently done. I absolutely do not perceive any synthetic notes, as has been described here at times. I consider the fragrance materials used to be of very high quality. In the drydown, the cedarwood becomes increasingly noticeable, even though one can always speak of a very fresh scent.

Unfortunately, the major drawback is the longevity. For me, it lasts about 4 hours. Given the high price, the scent simply does not perform well enough. If it were better, I would certainly rate it an 8.5, maybe even a 9, as I really like the DNA and the craftsmanship. For summer, it would be a beautiful citrus scent that contains the most beautiful bergamot I know.
With a better price-performance ratio, I would even be willing to spray it more often. But currently, it just doesn't work for me.

Rarely have I experienced orange and mandarin captured so authentically as in this fragrance. For me, these are also the dominant top notes. One simply wants to linger here, and I am amazed at the freshness and yes... the zestiness of the citrus fruits.
Later, the woody note comes through more in the fragrance, but the citrus freshness remains and only fades slowly.

What unfortunately is lacking is a strong sillage. The scent does linger longer on the skin and can be rediscovered on the skin, but this is almost only at skin contact from the sprayed area and my own nose. In other words, the sillage disappoints me a bit, and even spraying more didn’t change that for me.
Indoors, I notice the scent only a few times, but outside, I never perceived the fragrance despite 2-3 sprays on my arm. That’s really a shame, even though I like the scent so much. Maybe it will mature a bit more, etc., or it simply doesn’t suit my skin.

A truly orange-blooming fragrance with real citrus and freshness, which unfortunately lacks endurance.
