Obnoxious!
In Leather Man by Aigner is hands down the worst leather fragrance I’ve ever tried. Even taking into account the really cheap price, for me it is still just desperately obnoxious, and completely unworthy *any* price. It opens with a harsh, extremely artificial nondescript smell which I think should be aimed at evoking leather, while it clumsily smells more like a car under the sun – not a particularly rusty or dirty one, just a normal car with that really boring smell of plastic, metal, rubber, cheap imitation leather. I think I get some musk, some components similar to what other manufacturers know better how to use for leather accords, and something ambery; it may sound decent, but the result is just a disaster for me. It’s not leather – actually for me this is really nothing at all. The drydown arrives quickly, light and sweaty. Until now I used to consider as the “worst leather fragrances” the ones which just uncreatively reiterate the same usual aromachemicals (e.g. suederal, safraleine ecc.), but at least, they smell “leather”. This smells just nauseating nonsense for me. If you want to stick to this brand (God knows why) I recall Aigner Black being a little more decent and more similar to an actual leather scent.

No Cowboy Saddle, but Gentleman Gloves
In my search for a masculine "leather scent," I came across Aigner "in leather man." Aigner is actually a specialist in leather, so I thought to myself, if not them, then who could encapsulate leather in a fragrance?
Although it seems to be no longer produced, it was not a big problem to get the EdT, and the price tempted me into a blind buy. I was not disappointed.
Admittedly, "in leather man" is not Tuscan Leather; it lacks fundamental scent notes, such as the berry nuances of the Tom Ford highlight. And Aigner is not as "strong" as the American.
In leather reflects, in contrast to Ford's leather hammer, rather a quiet, introspective aroma. While Tuscan leather swings right into the new cowboy saddle after a brief raspberry opening, Aigner starts off fresher, slightly lemony. Only after a few minutes does the southern fruit settle, and slowly, quietly, the leather of the "Gentleman Gloves" advances. Never strong, never loud, but always present.
As already mentioned in previous comments, Aigner in Leather is very close to the skin. But that is exactly what I like.
Undeniably, Tuscan Leather is great, although I find the hype, especially the price of the Ford fragrance, very exaggerated.
Personally, I have found my peace in terms of "leather." The "leather gloves" just fit me like they were tailor-made.

Heated Full Leather Interior of a Porsche Cayenne
First scent impression:
Opulent, luxurious, aromatic leather, complex, spicy, warm earthy, elegant

Spontaneous scent associations:
Luxury car with modern full leather interior, leather workshop

Structure: Pyramidal (Half Linear)

Scent development:
The top note starts with a slightly fruity grapefruit note, which is immediately accompanied by a warm spice and a broad and intense leather note from the base.

In the heart note, aromatic notes play a central role. To lighten it up, a hint of hay-like lavender is sprinkled in, but the main aromas are the warming spices like nutmeg and cardamom, which are masterfully woven with the intense leather base. Patchouli can also be sensed, adding fullness, a mystical-elegant touch, and a distinct earthiness to the composition, which does not come across as cool and damp but rather warm and dry. The prominent leather note of the base runs through the entire scent journey, as it is (as it should be) majestically at the center of the composition, supported and embraced by all other notes to give it a bubbling fullness and facets.

In the base, warm wood notes emerge, with only the outlines of cedar and sandalwood discernible, while vetiver contributes its dry-earthiness, all enveloped by a modern-animalic and softly powdery musk blanket. The leather itself seems almost heated and projects an expansive aura.

Overall, it is a very modern and aromatic leather accord that plays the lead role here, underpinned by distinctly earthy tones, flanked by soothing spices, interwoven with an ambered but not classically oriental warmth, and wrapped in an animalic, slightly powdery musk that is complemented by noble woods.
Moreover, it seems that a dark violet is hidden somewhere, which bestows the leather with a raw elegance, giving the entire composition that special something.

Main notes:
Leather, leather, LEATHER (aromatic, ambered, musky, earthy, with a violet touch)

Fragrance family/direction:
Oriental-Leather / Aromatic

Projection/Aura:
01-10 Min. = 10/10
10-30 Min. = 10/10
30-60 Min. = 08/10
60-120 Min. = 07/10
>120 Min. = 06/10

Average intensity: Strong (08/10)

Longevity:
Skin: 4 - 6 hours
Clothing: >12 hours
Perception: 2-4 hours

Rating (Weighting: P+H = 40% / K+D = 60%)
Projection: 85%
Longevity: 80%
Composition: 85%
Scent: 90%
Price/Performance: Very Good

TOTAL: -= 85% =-

PS: The notes above are not entirely correct. The top notes do not match at all with what one smells, as the scent is not fruity at all! I had copied the notes from the press release of Aigner back then. These seem to be from Fragrantica, which I have also pointed out to them. Here are the notes from the press release:

Top: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Ginger
Heart: Nutmeg, Cardamom, Pepper, Lavender, Patchouli
Base: Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Musk, Leather

Leather and Sweat - wild, herbal, multidimensional
So many great comments before me on this page. I was extremely curious about Aigner's "In Leather - Man". Heavy leather, cowboys, lassos, swirling dust, and galloping horses, leather vests and high boots on steaming skin - wow. And lo and behold - the week before last, at my trusted cosmetician's (the horse guy), there was exactly this scent at an unbeatable price. The paper strip had promised a lot - well, on Monday morning, before leaving the harmony of home, I quickly sprayed a few spritzes of the leather man under my T-shirt, shirt, sweater, and down jacket and off I went into an exciting workday. Probably because of the many layers of fabric - for the sake of the cool office, keeping the down jacket on - I could only sporadically perceive the leather mixture throughout the long workday - I was already disappointed by its short longevity. In the evening, I walked to the train station - as always, late and uphill - got a bit sweaty and in the train, I ripped off the sweater from my body and lo and behold - there it is again, the "In Leather Man" - mixed with a bit of sweat - a remarkable ruggedness, wickedness, and surprisingly a wealth of fine, almost sweet - nuances hidden under heavy leather. Chocolate, roasted almonds, very close, hardly any radius - but, so what - after 9 hours.
Tried it again on Tuesday - this time in a warmer environment, only in a shirt - an enormously complex-herbal scent. I could hardly stop sniffing. There is a lot of wood in it. Woods - one associates working with a sander on patio furniture with backs and handles made of tropical woods. A hint of coffee. The scent is immensely exciting because the nose keeps finding new nuances - immensely many associations. The fragrance fits incredibly well with my wild, distinctive own sweat smell that it does not cover but picks up, reflects, lets mature, and harmonizes. The longevity is high although the radius decreases very quickly over time - what does it matter - now it is my private, my secret scent. Beautifully powerful and multidimensional. Those looking for fruity, citrus-berry notes are completely wrong with this scent. This is an entirely hard, brownish-marked fragrance. But with extreme adaptability. Autumn leaves would be a good comparison here. Have you ever observed how many shades of brown there are? How leaves modify their brown color when they fall and cover the ground wet? In the morning gray-beige-greenish tinged - in the evening dark brown with black spots. That’s how "In Leather - Man" is. Wild, rugged, gentle, changing linearly in its constancy. It is advisable to spray again from time to time. However, keep in mind - as beautifully powerful and thick-walled and massive as the bottle is - really decorative - the 75 ml packed are not very portable in a briefcase. The bottle and scent together easily weigh 300 grams and have the dimensions of a larger clenched fist. Better to spray a few spritzes under thick layers of clothing in the morning to keep the scent a bit "together" and reduce the layers in the afternoon to enjoy the sweat-mixed residual scent. From me (as still a "Rookie" in the olfactory wonderland) a very, very clear recommendation…

Very helpful Review 12
... is obviously still being produced :)
It was this elegant & subtly designed box that caught my attention at Rossmann for this perfume. Unfortunately, there were no testers available, but at 15 euros for 75 ml, I dared to make a blind purchase.
I quickly checked in here and saw a fragrance rating of 7.4, so it can't be that bad!
I hadn't even settled properly in the car when I sprayed this perfume on... the anticipation is somehow always the best part.
The opening is primarily fresh & spicy, not bad, but nothing spectacular either.
After about 30 - 40 minutes, woody/leathery notes come into play, and the scent starts to appeal to me not just a little, but it also reminds me of another fragrance.
It took me a few minutes, then it hit me, "Emporio Armani...lui/il/he/él/男"... this scent reminds me exactly of that perfume.
And when you look at the fragrance pyramid of both perfumes, you realize that my assessment isn't that far off.
Alongside these spicy/woody/leathery notes, the fragrance also has a certain freshness and a subtle sweetness.
The longevity on my skin is around +-6 hours.
Now to the sillage:
There are fragrances where you feel like you've been hit with a sledgehammer after spraying... and then there's AIGNER IN LEATHER... the scent gently caresses its wearer with a feather.
And although the fragrance isn't particularly intense, it projects nicely from the skin, surrounding you with a kind of aura.
Sitting in my Passat Variant after spraying this scent, I felt like I was sitting in a Porsche Panamera with full leather interior... I love it, and I'm glad I discovered it for myself!

A lovely scent that balances fruity, spicy, and woody notes. Leather is noticeable but not overpowering.

A great scent that develops irresistibly charming. It's not loud, but it knows how to pamper and enchant.

Noble, subtle, non-stinky leather-wood in the drugstore class. Rightfully between Lagerfeld and Versace at Rossmann.

Starts off well with yuzu; the freshness quickly fades into the background. Then it gets somewhat green, and after about 2 hours, the leather comes in, subtly.

Top note is briefly exhausting. Then leathery, woody warm, slightly sweet. Performance is rather weak. A sweat-like note bothers me a bit.

Fresh-floral gum water without leathery notes.
Association: Dust, saddle, cowboys?
More like Friedrichshain hipsters.

For a fragrance that boasts "leather" in the title, I expect a bit more. This one is very subtle. Projection 10/10? Where?
