The early nineties...
You can complain about the decline of the fragrance division of the AIGNER brand as you like; you can denounce & condemn the artificial or trivial fragrances and mourn the good old days - STATEMENT, in my opinion, stands out from the current assortment of the brand
In the quite typical early nineties manner (classic modernity?), it starts immediately when sprayed on with green lavender and citric notes, without becoming herbal limonade. Soon a fruity corpus appears, which I personally consider to be the most pleasant in the course of the fragrance; no single type of fruit dominates here, but at least no fashion miracle superfood fruits newly discovered on Upper Amazon jungle markets are praised for commercialisation in Europe.
STATEMENT creates a good balance between the ease of life discovered at the time (resolution of the East-West conflict, German reunification, RTL Samstag-Nacht!) and the fading territorial marking attitudes of the Powerhouse era on the other hand.
The fruity heart is framed and bridled by a light leather note and a slightly stronger wood note. Flowery notes develop on my skin only later and not too strongly, I would not actually smell the lily of the valley mentioned there. But I think I can perceive a lot of galbanum - this scent has turned out to be one of my favourite scents in the course of my few perfume years! At the end, after many hours of wearing, a warm, woody green and restrained flowery fragrance remains on the skin. Even delicate echoes of honey could be possible.

Mr. Chnokfir actually called it perfect: a "wonderful width". In my opinion this is also a true characterization of this fragrance. I definitely find STATEMENT made convincing. Although it strives in the direction of a classic men's fragrance, it is still too fresh and fruity to look really old school. But maybe I am now slowly reaching the age at which one can and would like to wear something more serious... *winkersmiley*

Even after wearing it many times, I still like to use the fragrance - which I can't say from some highly praised and partly also high-priced fragrances. I'm thinking first and foremost of gourmands, sweet oud perfumes or Aventus and its many (mostly cheaper) copies. There the Aigner acts like a nose shower and somehow grounds.

STATEMENT therefore remains in my collection as a counterbalance to the other more modern fragrances - on the one hand because I really like him as a representative of his time, on the other hand as a reminder that the selling price does not necessarily correspond with the quality of the goods. You can obviously smell good even for little money. This is something that should be emphasised frequently, especially here in the luxury segment.
In short: a male fragrance of the middle class, well wearable and very fair priced!

I'm sticking to it
For me, the 90s remain the most exciting perfume decade, which many people may not understand. However, I personally associate a lot with the 90s, and fragrances are one of them. As colourful and shrill as this decade was, as broadly diversified is the range of fragrances. Everything cried out for change and risk, and that's exactly what I find great about the 90s fragrances. There is hardly a bottle where you roll your eyes out of boredom or have smelled 100 times before. So also with Statement.

Aigner has always been quite conservative for me and the target group of fragrances was, as far as I know, never aimed at younger people, which is probably why I have only been dealing with this brand since parfumo, especially since Aigner fragrances are not found everywhere.

Statement. A great name for a fragrance.
Of course, one approaches this with a certain expectation. And I think that's fair enough
The citric-spicy notes of the opening, above all bergamot, lavender and lemon, quickly merge with the heart notes, only here does the rose geranium do its job, slowly but surely drawing the woody notes into the boat. I see the cedar in the foreground here, accompanied by very little leather, but a good portion of (artificial) moss. This mixture is in turn muted sweetly by amber and styrax, forming a clean base that ends with a hint of musk. The fruity notes, whatever they may be, can also be smelled throughout the fragrance, but not as the main theme, but I couldn't name a specific fruit.

I'm sure that the formula has been tweaked, but that doesn't bother me, and neither does the fragrance itself. I don't mean to say it's boring, but it's more suitable for an office guy who doesn't want to be in tune with Bleu de Chanel and Co. 2020 like ;-)

The shelf life is okay, the sillage turns out generously in the first half hour. It is a pity that this one was also discontinued.

A subtle statement for everyday life
Etienne Aigner's Statement. 90s classic

The first Aigner fragrance I had come to know. However, only now. In the 90s he went completely past me.

Before I had but then really bought him, he had to go through only once three tests with me.
The first time, tested on paper strips, he left me undecided. Somehow he had what, but still could not really convince. He lacked that certain something. After I had then tested the fragrances of the similarly named, but still completely independent of the house "Aigner" (the connections between the perfume houses are a whole separate topic), the rank of three very similar fragrances turned out: "Statement" by Etienne Aigner from New York and "No.1" and "pour homme" of the house Aigner from Munich. All similar, but each nevertheless with its own focus. And with all three I was initially undecided whether I liked them or not.

After twice Neutest on their own skin, but then I was convinced.

The statement begins citrus-fresh and slightly fruity thereby. The silage is strong and corresponds to both the New York, as well as the Munich Aigner-typical ledrig-citrus base with a synthetic vibe. No spontaneous enthusiasm with me. But potential....

After an hour, it is then like a brother, of the Munich "pour homme". Only less peppery and more citrusy for it. Fresh he acts now hardly, so is not a Freshi, as the opening suggested. He is rather an autumn fragrance for everyday office life.

As with "pour homme" you have to go here with the nose a little at a distance to warnehmen the true aura of the fragrance. If you go too close, he defends himself with strong spiciness.

The price / performance ratio is good.

Its color is brown in variable tones.

It will suit best to gentlemen over 30.

In summary, we have here a rather subtle men's autumn fragrance for everyday life, which starts fresh, but then spicy-woody arrives on a citrusy -leathery basis. Stands side by side with its Munich cousins "No1" and "pour homme", although I think you really only need one of them. That's how similar they are. Depending on personal preference, you can set your focus here. For me, the "pour homme" fits best, because of its peppery-nutty drydown. But then I only wear it in winter. As a variant for the fall I use the statement occasionally in everyday life quite happy.

Half a "gourmand" with a completely "aigné" vibe

It starts fresh and fruity, then becomes somehow fruity-sweet and gourmand, with apple, lemon and orange and a strangely strong sweetness, as if it were sugar concentrate or something. Then it becomes a little more floral and the gourmandy aspect disappears bit by bit. On clothes, it even becomes shower gel-like, but not like sports shower gel, and then it becomes a fresh soap, with the freshness also diminishing bit by bit. But all with a completely "aignem" vibe. In the end, you're left with a sweet piece of soaped leather that only smells slightly of leather, but is also somewhat gourmand and spicy. So it's definitely interesting and also kind of cool. It smells almost niche. And even if it doesn't smell old-fashioned to me, it scratches at it very briefly at times. It's more of a "men's fragrance", from 25 upwards, probably even closer to 30. But not as opulent as Etienne Aigner Nº2 Eau de Toilette. So I have to admit that it definitely has something, so far the best Aigner I've tested, but somehow not quite my DNA. For someone who likes something sweet, fruity and gourmand, this is definitely a strong fragrance. I particularly like the drydown here. And this sweet, but at the same time sour, gourmand lemon apple also has something. It's also quite strong on clothes, but with a slight toilet stone vibe. Even if it's not quite my thing, I don't think the scent is shit, but I like this out of line. You should try it, some people will definitely like it a lot, reminds me of expensive perfumes that others celebrate to death, but not me. Therefore a 7.5.

A masculine gem
Hello fragrance friends I'm here to speak on a little known classic that of course has been discontinued. It's called Statement Eau de Toilette launched in 1994 by the German fragrance house Etienne Aigner. A very masculine offering made in the image of past greats like Azzaro PH, Quorum by Antonio Puig, Davidoff EDT By Zino Davidoff etc. It has spice it has a woody middle stanza and an earthy and slightly animalic base that all adds up to one thing and one thing only. CLASS! This fragrance takes you back and reminds you of how men's fragrances USED to be and also let's you know that unfortunately that time has passed. All I can say is thank the Lord for Vintages because that's about 80% of my arsenal. I didn't plan it that way but that's just what I like. I grew up in the 1970s and as a young lad I vividly and fondly remember my father wearing Halston Z-14 and Grey Flannel. That's when my interest in fragrances started. Anyway this fragrance to me just wears very well even though the longevity isn't the greatest but that aside it has a lot of notes you don't see much anymore and they all fit together perfectly and lastly it has one of the most eye catching bottles I've seen. It looks great next to my other classics. The spicy woody scent is one of my favorites and you should definitely check it out and give it a wear or two.
