The early nineties...

One can complain about the decline of the fragrance division of the AIGNER brand as much as one wants; one can denounce and condemn the artificial or trivial scents and mourn the good old days - **STATEMENT** stands out, in my opinion, from the current range of the brand.

In a rather typical early nineties manner (classic modernity?), it starts right upon spraying with green lavender and citrus notes, without becoming herbal-lemonade-like. Soon, a fruity core appears, which I personally consider the most pleasant part of the scent progression; here, no single fruit dominates, and at least no trendy superfood fruits newly discovered in Upper Amazon rainforest markets for commercialization in Europe are being touted.
**STATEMENT** creates a good balance between the lightness of life discovered at that time (resolution of the East-West conflict, German reunification, RTL Saturday Night!) and the fading territorial marking attitude of the powerhouse era on the other hand.
The fruity heart is framed and kept in check by a light leather note and a somewhat stronger woody note. Floral notes develop on my skin only later and not too strongly; I wouldn't actually pick out the mentioned lily of the valley. However, I perceive quite a bit of galbanum - this scent note has proven to be one of my favorites over my few years of perfumery! In the end, after many hours of wearing, a warm, woody-green, and subtly floral aroma remains on the skin. Delicate hints of honey could also be quite possible.

Mr. Chnokfir has actually named it perfectly: a "magnificent breadth." This is, in my opinion, an accurate characterization of this fragrance. I find **STATEMENT** convincingly crafted. Although it leans towards a classic men's fragrance, it is still too fresh-fruity to come off as truly old school. Perhaps I am slowly reaching the age where one is allowed and wants to wear something a bit more serious... *winks*

Even after wearing it often, I still enjoy the scent quite a bit - which I cannot consistently say about some highly praised and often expensive fragrances. I am primarily thinking of gourmands, sweet oud perfumes, or Aventus along with its many (mostly cheaper) copies. In comparison, Aigner feels like a nasal shower and somehow grounds you.

**STATEMENT** thus remains a counterbalance to the other more modern fragrances in my collection - on the one hand, because I genuinely like it as a representative of its time, and on the other hand, as a reminder that the selling price does not necessarily correspond to the quality of the product. One can obviously smell good even for little money. This should be emphasized more often, especially in the luxury segment.
In short: a middle-class masculine fragrance, easily wearable and very fairly priced!

Yeah, I think it's about a 7.5 too.

I can wholeheartedly agree with your fine, precise description of the scent, the witty placement in the zeitgeist of the 90s, and the rating of 7. However, I'm not entirely on board with the enthusiastic tone- for me, a 7 is already >just about good, but leaning towards "it's okay"...

I'm 100% with you, both on your excellent fragrance description and everything else. I tested it today and I also think it's the best Aigner.

Thanks for the feedback on this "Down to Earth" scent! It should still be available at Rossmann, at least it was until recently.

Very nice... and how you so aptly place it in the zeitgeist! Even though I sometimes enjoy products from the upper Amazon marketplace, I will finally check this one out after your splendid comment and plea against overpriced niche madness. Thank you for that!

I really like some Aigner fragrances as well as some budget-friendly ones (why not?), so I completely agree with you! Heartfelt thumbs up from me ;)
