Sweet, syrupy, sticky
I bought this because I liked the bottle (you know I did - I really like these little bottles sitting on my bedside table).
The bottle is bigger than any of the other bottles I have; it looks quite chunky in comparison. Heavy, lots of jewels, bright and shiny, it somehow comes across to me as more masculine than feminine. Why? I don't know.
On first application I get a syrupy sweet, slightly floral, crushingly strong pineapple boiled sweets. Occasionally I get a tiny touch of sickly sweet, ready rubbed tobacco (a bit like the Golden Virginia my grandpa used to roll).
Half an hour in and the perfume really amps up in strength with the fruit receding into the background and an astonishingly strong, synthetic, syrupy sweetness relentlessly assails my senses. This sweetness vaguely brings to my mind an artificial caramel.
For three to four hours this non specific syrupy sweetness is so over-powering that I feel I'm going to have to wash it off. at any moment now. I find it very strange to be able to constantly smell a smell for four hours; more usually I find the smell of a perfume comes and goes depending on how warm I am.
Just when I think I can't stand any more, the radiating syrup (come on think of another word) suddenly ceases to pester my senses and I'm left with only a little intermittently wafting to my nose. My skin now smells dryer, a smidge dusty, a tiny touch fruity, but predominately milky, sweet caramel (kind of).
Although I think all of my recent purchases from Al Haramain and Swiss Arabian are primarily, if not wholly, synthetic, this by far smells the most synthetic of the lot.
Have you ever worked very late in a large office where at some point the air conditioning suddenly turns off giving you such a jolt, and such a relief from the stress caused by the background hum which you didn't even realise you were feeling? Well, that's the feeling I get when the radiating syrup suddenly stops.
I've made it sound awful but I actually quite like it. I doubt I will ever wear it as a perfume as such, but I think I will use one little dot in two or three milliliters of oil (I use Weleda baby oil) as a post shower moisturiser.
Today, 5th June, 2024 I put two drips from the dipping stick into around 75 ml of alcohol. A quick couple of spritz from my little spray bottle gives me a quick burst of some sort of sweet vanilla floral, maybe like freesia, and leaves me with a pleasant sweet, slightly chocolatey skin scent that lasts for several hours. I find this fragrance super strong and long lasting.
