My dog is scared.
Introduction :
I had a "big, bad, black dog", at least that was the perception of some dog owners. My "mouse" was playing with another dog in the meadow, the two of them were shredding around, it was a delight!
Then the dog owner came along: "Can you call your dog back? My dog is scared!"
... you don't even notice it.
About the Silver Oud :
Based on the fragrance notes, the reviews and perhaps also the price, one expects a wild monster that bares its teeth, takes no prisoners and is untameable. But then this muscular creature comes closer and reveals a soul so tender you want to melt and a heart so golden you can hardly believe it.
The opening is briefly a little indefinable, like a joyful greeting ritual with lots of tail wagging. But as soon as the initial sniffing is over, you recognize the scent.
For me : cold wood fire smoke still lingering in my clothes from the night before, old leather, unscented pipe tobacco, faint notes of vanilla in the distance and the promise "I could if I had to..." The oud is barely perceptible, rather sinking into the woody spice and giving a wonderful silky note, as if you were stroking black, short fur with a brush. Castoreum (castoreum)? I don't notice any of that.
Beautiful, strong, warm, protective.
Because of all the reviews, I was expecting Rambo - and got James Bond.
After the greeting, the black monster lies down and stays with you. Surprisingly discreet and always there. But never loud, never annoying. If you were in a restaurant, the people at the neighboring table would only notice "Oha! There was something that was always lurking near me". - That's the sillage.
The longevity is like a dog's life: insanely loyal and far too short.
