It is actually really good
This is reviewed after 1 week of wearing a newly opened bottle. I do not own a full bottle of Imagination but I have emptied a 6ml sample of the OG and It has become my favorite summer scent. Since my current bottle of Marwa hasn't macerated yet, take this review with a grain of salt. I will update this review in the future with a comparison to Bujairami Hectic which I'm trying to get my hands on.
Prior to receiving this bottle, I am not a fan of middle eastern clone houses. 3 Years ago I bought full bottles of popular clones like Club de Nuit Intense Man Eau de Toilette, Détour Noir , L'Aventure etc. Had to sell all of them, even after 2 years of macerating they all opened up with super synthetic smell which is remniscent of chemical warfare, burning my mucosa to a crips. On top of that the dry down were low quality while having ridiculous projection. Now I bought into the hype again after getting burned 100% of the time in the past.
Upon the first spray, this is amazing. It clearly tries to clone imagination. I could tell they use higher quality ingredients and I don't get any chemical warfare type of synthetics. It is a nice soapy fresh aquatic tea fragrance like the original. The vibe is 100% the same as Imagination. However, if you smell closer the is a somewhat notable difference.
The top notes are ridiculously close to the OG, soapy citrus fresh. Mid note starts to differentiate ever so slightly from the OG. IMO the tea note is not as present, and the neroli is not as photorealistic but more of a mixture that tries to imitate the neroli. To be fair, it is not written on the packaging. The base notes deviates the most from the OG, which IMO is somewhat noticeable. Marwa still has the aquatic ambroxan with slight clean musk but it also features a leathery animalic accord that reminds me of faint oud. It is 100% not oud but it gives the same animalic vibe. It is thick! You can find the same accord in other middle eastern houses like Amouage (not just limited to ME clone houses). Consequently, making Marwa not as airy as Imagination . This accord fades after 1h. But even after 1h you cannot pinpoint this note clearly but it still affects the dry down making it thicker and not as light and effervescent as the OG.
Also you can smell the higher quality of the ingredients, the superior blend, depth and complexity of the OG. I can seperate the different notes in Imagination more easily, since they are more photorealistic and not a soup of blend.
Projection-wise, Marwa is much louder and more "intense". Similar, to an Intense version of a fragrance. It is thicker and not as light airy and sincere as the OG. As of right now, the OG has much better longevity (this might change after macerating or I might just go noseblind on this due to the ambroxan overload). The OG last on my skin for 8h while Marwa becomes skin scent after 3h and last in total for 5h. EDIT: it has been 8h and after I showered I can still faintly detect it but only by pressing my nose against my wrist.
All in all, the vibe is the same. The scent is 92% similar. In the air it is probably indistinguishable to others. Only oneself can detect the difference. As a comparison, I think Club de Nuit Intense Man Eau de Toilette is about as 30% close to Aventus, and this is being generous.
And in terms of value, I got my bottle for 60€/100ml. It outclasses any designer in every single aspect except maybe quality of ingredients. Also the atomizer is super satisfying to use since its pressurized but it's not opaque so I cannot see how much is left.
I am thoroughly impressed and happy with my purchase, definitely a keeper. I expect Marwa to become even smoother after maceration. And I will give middle eastern clone houses another try!
