A fairly straight-forward peachy floral
I'm the kind of person that's always out for a bargain, and occasionally I give Avon a try in hopes that one of their inexpensive fragrances will sweep me off my feet. Rare Gold is nice and indeed very pleasant, however it's not the kind of fragrance that sends me over the moon.
Peach at the best of times, especially when dominant, is often too juicy and sour on my skin. The peach accord in Rare Gold is softened a little by the aldehydes and white florals, which in turn makes it a touch more agreeable on my skin. In fact I rather like its sparkly and crisp opening on me, I found that it showed a lot of promise.
I actually expected Rare Gold to be more powdery than it was, I am quite surprised to find it more of a peachy floral than anything else. It has a somewhat classic feel that I can only assume would appeal to a majority of women. It could be worn either casually or formally.
Unfortunately Rare Gold is a little linear in terms of composition. The drydown smells much the same as the opening, however on my skin it also had an added mustiness that wasn't all that pleasant.
The longevity was average, yet a lot longer lasting than I thought it would be, and the sillage was fairly soft. Looking over the reviews, many people seem to have worn this when it first came out. I wonder, do they still wear it now?
