Better and more freakish than ordinary summer colognes
Once upon a time, long, long ago, a metallic cologne ruled over the world. Its name was Chrome. When it was released on the market, there weren't many colognes with that sharp metallic vibe accord. So clean, so fresh, so good, a real killer on the aquatic world of scents that were around during the nineties, with high longevity, huge projection, and sillage either. But that were the nineties, and the mass changed its flavor, a so did I. my taste moved toward different aromas.
It was just a few months ago that I was browsing in search of Azzaro pour Homme summer 2015 limited edition and came upon this Chrome spin-off. I instantly recalled the amazing metallic flavor, and my sense of smell created a similar one in my nose and my mind. I couldn't resist, so right off the bat, and I ordered the summer 2015 limited editions pair. Namely, Azzaro pour Homme and Chrome.
Well, Chrome Summer Limited Edition is more vigorous and summery compared to Chrome original. It opens up with the fresh and tangy notes of grapefruit. Zesty accord is prominent here, yet not annoying but pleasant, with a bit of classic bergamot, peppery ginger, and a fabulous synthetic hedione. Allegedly, a fruity flavor is supposed to be there, due to the presence of acai berries. That opening is brilliant and screaming summer, summer, summer.
Then, the scent takes a turn toward something chocolaty, perhaps coming from flavored Acai berry, and you get a punch of energy and vitality. That accord does not come alone, and you'll get a bit of floral jasmine and green notes from fern. The heart is aquatic, salty, marine, with that ozonic touch characteristic of Chrome.
Finally, the bright reddish goji berries give the scent radiance and refreshing freshness. The base is musky and herbal, with a tinge of sweet amber, and bitterness from tea, mate tea to be precise. Last but not least, the creaminess of precious sandalwood completes that gorgeous dry down.
When it comes to summer fragrances, Chrome Summer LE 2015 has one of the best openings I've ever smelled, especially if you like citrus, bittersweet, and juicy blasts, then settling into a tea, fern, and mate, which sets this scent apart. Longevity is above average, sillage is quite strong, nearly intruding at first, quickly softening yet not losing projection. My coworkers made compliments about how kind, clean, and fresh, I smelled even after a few hours after I wore it. It is better and more freakish than many of the beloved aromatic-aquatics out there.
Hint: pay attention in case you're used to spraying scent on your white shirt, the blue juice might dye it, just noticed when I tested it on a paper strip.
