The flowers of love
I got the Babylon Berlin fragrances for Christmas as a little treat. Actually I didn't want a present anymore, but my boyfriend asked me which fragrance I wanted and since I liked the series and wanted to stay modest, I suggested it to him.
Of course I was very happy about the present and the really very neat bottles would surely please my eye in the perfume showcase.

Since they don't get off very well here, I didn't have too many expectations either.
First of all: The Babylon Berlin fragrances have nothing to do olfactorically with the twenties and thirties and nothing to do with the series apart from the name.
They are pure merchandising products and you can expect a second N°5, Shalimar, Zibeline, Mitsouko or Tabac Blond to mention just a few of the great fragrances of that time.
They're just nice scents, nothing more and nothing less. And they are not that badly made, especially not in this price range. There I have already smelled worse scents, which are much more expensive.

So let's go to the scent of love. This one is the brightest of the three fragrances and the color of the fragrance in light yellow is well chosen. Love is a flowery fragrance with slightly fruity notes. From the scent character I would think of white-flowering with a light honey note. I notice the juice of fresh mandarins and then a lot of jasmine - but not as smoky and artificial as e.g. in Alien. Just bright freshly blossomed jasmine blossoms. Yes, they're synthetic, but still beautiful. I can still imagine some currants, but not too much. Amber's giving the faucet a little warmth. The Sillage is in the middle range and I find it pleasant. It might last a little longer, but I don't mind the price.
Overall, it is a friendly, floral fragrance. No masterpiece, but also not bad for this price range.
There I find the many sugar scents that are so modern at the moment much more annoying. The sweetness of flowers is sweet enough for me!
It is also very suitable for everyday use and good to wear at work.
As said no masterpiece, but a nice, cheap, bright flower scent for every day.

Will love become love or just a brief affair?
Actually it should be only a statement, but my impressions need too many letters. So I guess it'll be a short comment after all. The Babylon series, I've been buzzing around for a while anyway. Now that I've seen that the series probably goes out of the assortment with the horse and rider, I have struck mercilessly. First, I've chosen love to do a big test. But when I sprayed it on, I cursed my uninhibited shopping tour, as I find the top note just as biting and unpleasant as with the Charlie series. However, I cannot perceive individual scents. But after a short time love turns into a beautiful pleasing scent, where I still can't perceive single scents. But it's this beautiful mainstream fresh showered-cared-fresh fragrance. After three hours, however, I perceive only weakly the base, whereby actually only musk is perceptible for me. From a smell, which starts with such a wumms, that I already had the fear, a spray blow is overdosed I would have expected actually more. But at least he is a nice, unobtrusive companion for a short period of time. Let's see how our relationship develops...

Well
Now to my second test of the Babylon Berlin series. Here the bottle captivates with old gold/silver tones and appeals to the eye. He reminds me of a dress by Dior. Here the content is already a little more pleasing than with the brother in green. The beginning a little fruity and a little citric. But no note is visible. Then gently mix rose and jasmine. Magnolia smells for me more like iris and everything a little pleasing and powdery without being too sweet. But also here the heavy synthetic note. Sandalwood, amber and musk round the thing off a little. But they can't save the artificial mixture. Iris and sandalwood bravely fight each other before they disappear and a touch of rubber tire remains. Shelf life with me two hours. If the scent were less mature and rounded, it would be something for me. But that's not how it's gonna be with us. There are cheaper scents from Rival de Loop, which beat the scent by lengths. He won't make the leap into the upper class that way. Price for the content in my case borderline. But the bottle.... a dream...

The twenties are back...
... it's called everywhere. Hardly any commercials, waiting loops or series previews can do without Charleston poems in the background. The Art Deco style has reappeared in the world of furniture, interior design and decorative plumbers. And fashion, hairstyles, accessories and make-up are also increasingly influenced by it. Political and social researchers warn that the twenties of the twentieth century are so similar to our time today, even our twin decade, and warn of the dark clouds that were drawn up on the horizon at that time and how all this could be repeated if we were not careful. While I've always been a big fan of the twenties and find it nice that they are suddenly back in fashion, I find the claim absurd that they would just unstoppably repeat themselves, that we were even in a Marmot Day-like time loop, from which there would be no escape, a loop that inevitably repeats the Weimar Republic and would lead us towards the same catastrophe in which it ended at that time. Yes, the political unrest has increased in recent years, yes, the extreme parties are gaining popularity and the dissatisfaction and disenchantment with politics among the population is growing. Freedom of expression and a culture of discussion were also better off. But anyone who has even a hint of knowledge about the social and political dynamics in the Weimar Republic will hardly want to compare the conditions of that time with those of today.

Those who still have doubts about this will get a vivid history lesson in Weimar relations in the television series 'Babylon Berlin', which has been on public television since (last?) last week.
And if that's not enough to immerse you in the less golden end of the 'Roaring Twenties', there are now three fragrances on the market for that series, Zeitgeist to spray on, so to speak. Flacons and packaging are Art Deco style, elegant and pretty to look at, slightly reminiscent of the Dita of tea perfumes. The fragrances bear names corresponding to the spirit of the twenties: 'love', 'sin' and 'intrigue'. 'Love' is golden, 'sin' red and 'intrigue' green - how fitting. In contrast to some other perfumes, I find that the scents of all three meet the spirit of the twenties, but 'love' least of all. For me, it is also the weakest of the three fragrances in this series. Less individual and unique than his red and green sisters, he seems more modern, mainstream and somehow you have the impression to have smelt him before. Nevertheless, it smells good for me, could pass well and gladly as a higher-quality Mainstreamer a la Chanel or as niche smell. For me, amber dominates here, mixed with white flowers and a hint of creamy-fruity peach blossoms. Sandalwood and a dash of musk ground the scent a little and prevent it from becoming too sweet and arbitrary. And somehow I smell here after a while elderberry blossoms, which are not listed in the fragrance pyramid at all. The fragrance seems to me classic, elegant, valuable, but for my taste also too sweet, too conservative and too madamic. I see it as an elegant evening and night fragrance for women over 35, personally I feel much too young for it, unlike the other two fragrances in the series. If he is conceivable in a young woman, then only in a rather conservative, classically dressed Chanel lover. For me, 'love' is the weakest and most adapted of the three Babylon Berlin fragrances, but those who rely on a high-quality smelling, classically elegant white flower fragrance without special corners and edges can't do anything wrong here. I didn't get any mosquito spray out of the fragrance pyramid; the shelf life was okay, the Sillage even quite decent. Love' doesn't suit me any differently than his two sisters, but I would probably find him quite nice on the right carrier.
