The Flowers of Love
I received the Babylon Berlin fragrances as a little extra for Christmas. I actually didn't want any more gifts, but my partner asked me which scent I would like, and since I liked the series and wanted to be modest, I suggested this one to him.
I was, of course, very pleased with the gift, and the really neat bottles would surely be a nice addition to my perfume display, pleasing my eye.

Since they haven't been received well here, I didn't have very high expectations.
One thing right off the bat: The Babylon Berlin fragrances have nothing olfactorily to do with the twenties and thirties, and apart from the name, they have nothing to do with the series.
They are purely merchandising products, and one shouldn't expect a second N°5, Shalimar, Zibeline, Mitsouko, or Tabac Blond, to name just a few great fragrances from that time.
They are simply nice scents, no more and no less. And they are not poorly made either, especially not in this price range. I've smelled much worse fragrances that are far more expensive.

Now, let's talk about the scent Love. This one is the lightest of the three fragrances, and the color of the scent in bright yellow is well chosen. Love is a floral scent with slight fruity undertones. In terms of scent character, I would describe it as white blooming with a light honey note. I perceive the juice of fresh mandarins and then a lot of jasmine-but not as smoky and artificial as, for example, in Alien. Just bright, freshly bloomed jasmine flowers. Yes, they are synthetic, but still beautiful. I can also sense a hint of currant, but not too much. Amber adds a bit of warmth to the scent. The sillage is in the medium range, and I find that pleasant. It could last a bit longer, but I don't find that too bothersome given the price.
Overall, it is a friendly, floral scent. Not a masterpiece, but also not bad for this price range.
I find the many sugary scents that are currently so trendy much more annoying. The sweetness of flowers is sweet enough for me!
It is also very suitable for everyday wear and good for work.
As I said, not a masterpiece, but a nice, affordable, bright floral scent for every day.

Will love turn into love or just a brief affair?
Actually, it was supposed to be just a statement, but my impressions require too many letters for that. So it will probably be a short comment after all. I've been circling around the Babylon-Berlin series for a while anyway. Now that I've seen that the series is going out of stock at Ross und Reiter, I ruthlessly seized the opportunity. First, I chose Liebe to conduct a thorough test. However, upon spraying it, I cursed my reckless shopping spree, as I find the top note just as biting and unpleasant as in the Charlie series. I can't perceive individual fragrance notes, though. After a short time, Liebe transforms into a nice, pleasant scent, where I still can't detect individual notes. It is, however, that lovely mainstream fresh-showered-well-groomed scent. After three hours, though, I can only faintly perceive the base, with only musk being noticeable to me. From a fragrance that starts with such a punch, I had actually expected more, as I was already concerned that one spray might have been overdosed. But at least it is a nice, unobtrusive companion for a short period. Let's see how our relationship develops...

Well
Now to my second test of the Babylon Berlin series. Here, the bottle impresses with its old gold/silver tones and catches the eye. It reminds me of a dress by Dior. The scent inside is already a bit more pleasing than its green brother. The opening is a bit fruity and somewhat citrusy. But no note is recognizable. Very delicately, rose and jasmine then blend in. Magnolia smells more like iris to me, and everything is a bit pleasing and powdery without being too sweet. But here too, there is the heavy synthetic note. Sandalwood, amber, and musk round things off a bit. But they cannot save the artificial mixture. Iris and sandalwood hold their ground bravely before they also disappear, leaving a hint of rubber tires behind. Longevity for me is two hours. If the scent were a little more refined and rounded, it would be something for me. But as it is, this won't work out between us. There are cheaper scents from La Rive that far surpass this fragrance. It doesn't make the leap into the upper class like this. The price for the content is borderline for me. But the bottle... a dream...

The Twenties are back...
... it is said everywhere. Hardly any commercial, hold music, or series preview currently exists without Charleston tunes playing in the background. The Art Deco style has made a comeback in the world of furniture, interior design, and decorative clutter. Fashion, hairstyles, accessories, and makeup are also increasingly influenced by it. Political and social researchers warn that the Twenties of the 20th century are strikingly similar to our current time, even calling it our twin decade, and caution against the dark clouds that gathered on the horizon back then, suggesting that history could repeat itself if we are not careful. While I have always been a big fan of the Twenties and find it lovely that they are suddenly back in fashion, I find the claim absurd that they are unavoidably repeating themselves, that we are in some sort of Groundhog Day time loop from which there is no escape, a loop that inevitably repeats the Weimar Republic and leads us toward the same catastrophe that ended it. Yes, political unrest has increased in recent years, yes, extreme parties are gaining traction, and dissatisfaction and political apathy among the population are growing. The state of freedom of expression and discussion culture was once better. But anyone with even a hint of knowledge about the social and political dynamics of the Weimar Republic would hardly want to compare the conditions of that time with today’s.

For those still in doubt, the television series 'Babylon Berlin', which has been airing on public television since (the week before?) last week, provides a vivid history lesson on Weimar conditions.
And for those who still want to dive into the less glamorous end of the 'Roaring Twenties', there are now three perfumes on the market inspired by the series, so to speak, zeitgeist in a bottle. The flacons and packaging are designed in the Art Deco style, elegant and pleasing to the eye, reminiscent of the Dita von Teese perfumes. The scents bear names that reflect the spirit of the Twenties: 'Liebe', 'Sünde', and 'Intrige'. 'Liebe' is golden, 'Sünde' is red, and 'Intrige' is green - how fitting. Unlike some other perfumes, I find that all three scents capture the spirit of the Twenties, although 'Liebe' does so the least. It is also the weakest of the three fragrances in this line for me. Less individual and unique than its red and green sisters, it comes across as more modern, more mainstream, and somehow gives the impression of having been smelled before. Nevertheless, it smells high-quality to me and could easily pass as a higher-end mainstream scent like Chanel or as a niche fragrance. For me, amber dominates here, mixed with white florals and a hint of creamy, fruity peach blossoms. Sandalwood and a touch of musk ground the fragrance a bit and prevent it from becoming too sweet and generic. And somehow, after a while, I also smell elderflowers, which are not listed in the fragrance pyramid. The scent strikes me as classic, elegant, and valuable, but for my taste, it is also too sweet, too conservative, and too matronly. I see it as an elegant evening and going-out fragrance for women over 35; personally, I feel much too young for it compared to the other two fragrances in the line. If it were to suit a young woman, it would only be a rather conservative, classically dressed Chanel lover. 'Liebe' is, for me, the weakest and most conformist of the three Babylon Berlin fragrances, but anyone looking for a high-quality smelling, classic-elegant white floral scent without any special edges or corners can’t go wrong here. No mosquito spray has crawled out of the fragrance pyramid for me; the longevity was okay, and the sillage was quite decent. 'Liebe' does not suit me like its two sisters, but I would probably find it quite nice on the right wearer.

For me, the worst of the three Babylon Berlin fragrances. Fruity hairspray, there's not much more to say. So if that's supposed to be love...

The bottle is great, but the scent is the worst of the three for me. It reminded me more of an anti-mosquito spray.

Delicious initial fruits, then unfortunately quickly a thick plastic flower bouquet full in your face. Not my idea of beautiful love.

Initially a bit of mandarin and peach, then rose and jasmine. Everything is noticeably synthetic and of low quality. Casual scent.

At first, I thought it could be something, but the plastic white flowers quickly develop an incredible intensity...

The scent reminds me of a fruitier and slightly softer version of Elie Saab Edp... Love smells fruity, rosy, clean, and creamy.

Fruity, lightly scratchy. Floral-creamy. Quite subtle, I forget I’ve sprayed it on. Doesn’t hurt me, doesn’t excite me.

Reminds me of "True Love" by EA. Sweet, floral, intoxicating. A bit too sweet for me, but otherwise not bad for the segment.

A rosy, fresh clean scent, relatively unobtrusive, making it quite suitable for the office, but personally a bit too synthetic for me!
