Long-anticipated release, that fell flat
I've been a Ghoul Friend fan for years, but sadly this year's mist didn't live up to my expectations.
This is the first year BBW has released a full-size version of the mist, and I think we were all excited about it. Previously it's only been available in home fragrance (like candles, etc.) + hand sanitizer, soap, and mini glitter mists.
I have a Ghoul Friend hand sanitizer from last year, that I've been using this week. It gives off a stronger and more beautiful, true-to-OG-Ghoul-Friend-DNA fragrance experience than the full-sized mist from this year does, unfortunately.
This year's full-sized mist has a blast of strong alcohol in the opening - with barely any peony, strawberry, or citrus to really mention. The beautiful trio of notes (that normally feel like a "berry-peony candy" to me in previous years' Ghoul Friend products), sadly feels very watered down.
Then this opening moves quickly into a green floral dry-down. It's sharp, off-putting, and odd, since there are no green notes listed - and haven't been in older Ghoul Friend products, either.
I ended up skipping on buying the mist this year because of all of this. I hope BBW brings it back in future years, and tweaks the formula a bit - so it's closer to the strong, fruity-floral, and vibrant Ghoul Friend DNA we all know and love.
