Time and again...
... I have to stop at the rich, colorful shelf with the Berdoues fragrances at Kstadt, because the sight of the many pretty bottles is just too tempting.

So far, each fragrance has also stood out on its own - and I have yet to be disappointed by any of them.
Each one makes its own statement.

Thus, reaching for "blattgrün" was rewarding as well.

Green - fresh and invigorating, the "Brazilian" welcomes me - but not overly temperamental, as the Petitgrain maintains composure despite its liveliness.
The Tonka bean rounds it off gently, transitioning into a delicate marzipan note.
The woody elements are soft and flexible, not bulky, but rather embrace the skin.

You don't find yourself in an impenetrable jungle; instead, Brazil remains bright and light.

A pleasant unisex fragrance that stays close to the skin but offers decent longevity.

More of a daytime scent - suitable for all seasons.

I will gladly continue to explore the Berdoues label - especially since a birthday is approaching.

The Old Chico
Old boy or O velho chico
This is the nickname of the "Rio Sao Francisco"
When you visit some of the cities along the river, you get a small glimpse of the colonial era.

Alagoas is the last state that the river crosses before reaching the South Atlantic.

White sandy beaches as far as the eye can see attract tourists from all over the world.

Some water sports, incredibly delicious food, beautiful people, and lovely weather reflect a day in Maragogi, a coastal town in the state of Alagoas.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast with fresh fruits, melon, oranges, pineapple, Brazilian coffee, and follow the relaxed hustle and bustle in the cafes.
And enjoy the fresh Selva do Brazil
Yes, it is unfortunately very fleeting, but a few spritzes on the bright white T-shirt work wonders.
A bit of citrus, a bit of wood, by no means just citrusy fresh, but really beautifully spicy.
This spice has a warm quality and fits well with the impressions of the land.
In the afternoon, visit a tobacco plantation.
It is hot, and the humidity carries the scent released by the tobacco plants.
Is it the tobacco or the spicy woodiness from Berdoues?
The woodiness prevails here. The fruit takes a back seat.

In the evening, enjoy some seafood, garlic, avocado, lime,
Everything smells like vacation, like freedom, like "vida doce" or la dolce Vita.
Here, the "Selva do Brazil" gives everything again, and caresses with freshness and spicy warmth.
Despite its weak longevity and limited projection, you can achieve a slightly better performance with reapplication and dosing.
I feel good, enjoy the evening, close my eyes, and let the day replay in my mind.
I hear light rain pattering on the awning of the neighboring restaurant, it is getting fresher here, the rain is getting louder.
I open my eyes again.
No, I am no longer in the restaurant in Maragogi.
I am sitting in the armchair, the window is open, and the cold fresh November rain is splattering against the glass.
This Berdoues has transported me, yes it is weak, it is by no means a beast, but it reaches me with its wonderful natural freshness and fruit. On a piece of clothing, I can still perceive it for about 2 hours.

I love scents that I can associate with countries, that transport me
That are simple, not too complex.
The Berdoues Grand Crus belong to that category.

Like a good red Grand Cru.

Thanks to Fer

Best regards and have a nice weekend everyone

A Dream in Green
I have been searching for my green fragrance for a long time. Just like the color, the scent can vary greatly. There are penetrating firs, endless grass, and so on.
This here is exactly my green. Fresh, slightly citrusy, it gives me an image of walking into the forest with plenty of sunshine filtering through the leaves. Then it gets a bit darker, but the clarity and freshness remain. A lovely forest walk in late spring. It is already warm and still fresh, a wonderful scent that unfortunately fades too quickly. Just like this moment in the year.

Eating Oranges and Washing Laundry in the Rainforest
Hm,… Berdoues,... a brand that had somewhat slipped my mind, but I rediscovered it through Assam of India, which I was able to test recently, and which, as you might guess, was a tea scent!

Now, however, I will first talk about Selva do Brazil, which sounds like a lovely summer fragrance. Well, the beautiful bottles are also a reason why I am currently drawn to these scents again (I believe a good friend of mine is right, at some point I will break my own rule, which is “Never buy a fragrance just because of the pretty bottle,” but not yet, oh no! Because if I do, then… then I’ll be just as crazy as all of you here! And woe to anyone who says, “Well then, you fit right in here!” :DD)

Let’s get to the scent!

The Scent:
The fragrance starts with wonderfully orangey notes, which for a tiny moment when spraying reminded me of bergamot, but that was probably just due to the zesty-citrusy aura.
Especially in summer, such a scent feels incredibly refreshing. The fragrance has a slightly woody background, which I think pairs very well with the orange notes. Over time, it takes on a somewhat tropical vibe, so slightly humid, but not heavy, creating a rainforest-like atmosphere.
The tonka bean takes a moment to unfold, but remains generally subtle.
And if I’m not mistaken, the scent has a slightly soapy background reminiscent of fabric softener, which I don’t find bad at all; in fact, it’s quite pleasant with a lightly floral undertone.

The Sillage and Longevity:
Like almost every citrus fragrance, this one is also quite weak and hardly projects after a zesty start, which is a shame, but apparently, one has to live with that in summer scents.
Thus, the longevity is only moderate, as the fragrance lasts just three to four hours on the skin and then becomes almost undetectable.

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular with rounded corners. On the inner back wall, the bottle features beautiful leaf motifs reminiscent of a rainforest, making it quite nice to look at. Only the black plastic cap seems to not quite match the rest. A chrome or green cap would probably have looked better. Still, it’s a lovely bottle.

I liked Selva Do Brazil, even though there are better orange scents out there. Nevertheless, this one is a nice, harmless, and unfortunately somewhat weak orange fragrance with woody notes, perfect for summer. Since it is indeed weak, it is more suitable as a regular daytime scent, a fragrance for the office or for relaxation, etc… for anything else, especially going out, it is more than weak.

Its strength lies in its simple scent structure, which some might find too simplistic, but I like it and would recommend giving it a try. Perhaps everyone who enjoys clean or soapy scents will also appreciate it. Messy people (e.g., those who don’t know what a napkin is or something like that… he he, and there’s another insult… I’m slowly getting the feeling that you all will be waiting for me with pitchforks at the next possible Parfumo meeting…) will have less use for this scent :D

Sunscreen scent? Summer scent?
I have tested this fragrance multiple times and am considering whether to purchase it.
Since I can't describe a scent as poetically as some here, I will try to use my own words.

The fragrance starts off very fresh, citrusy, green; I could suspect Neroli, Petitgrain is quite similar, which I like for a summer scent. Gradually, it becomes milder, more velvety for me, but without losing the touch of freshness or, shall I say, the green note; that must be the tonka bean that softens the green.

At some point, a depth comes in, but not too deep; that must be the little woodiness that spreads a bit and rounds everything off and holds it together.

Overall, the scent reminds me of sunscreen, the old kind, summer fabric softener, and simply delicious fresh laundry.

I have associations with Mugler Cologne and Creed Vetiver Original, although I find that the blend here is extraordinarily well done.

Both comparative scents are overall too soapy for me; this is kept in check here with Selva do Brazil's fresh note, which I like. If I were to want one of these three scents, it would be this one.
I would wish for a longer longevity; about 4 hours is always the case for me with summer scents, unfortunately.

It is a skin scent, a care scent, but of a very delicious kind; I believe it will become mine.

The bottle is okay; green Brazilian little plants fit the scent.

Addendum:

I contacted Berdoues because I inquired whether this scent would also be available as an Eau de Toilette or as an Eau de Parfum.
Berdoues said that the concentration is at 15%, and thus the Eau de Cologne is an Eau de Parfum!!??? I can only explain this to myself because the advertising is designed in such a way that not every perfume is always the same and not every cologne has to be a cologne..... I would interpret it that way. Grand Cru indeed :-)

Distinctly acidic, refreshing petitgrain on a generic woody base. Quite nice, but nothing to write home about.

Strong, slightly bitter green, very spicy fresh, with a hint of dry wood at the back. A lovely summer scent for those who enjoy green.
