Summer-fresh marshmallow
In the opening Vanira Moorea smells very much like a refreshing summer cologne a la 4711, but don't be fooled. The petitgrain is strong at first, but it doesn't stay the most dominant note for long. Instead, a powdery vanilla unfolds quickly. It's not listed, but I'm quite sure that there must be orange blossom and/or neroli in this, too. Together with the vanilla it gives the whole fragrance are marshmallow vibe: Sweet, fluffy, slightly dry in texture. Not sticky, but very sweet. I can sense a spritz of fresh orange juice, too, which lightens up the scent, but it's not enough to make this really fruity. For my personal taste this is one of those scents that get better the longer they're on. If you prefer greenery over sweetness, you might find the opposite to be true.

This is a lovely summer gourmand, I really like this kind of scent. Because I already have a lot of marvelous vanilla/"orange tree part" (leaves, flowers or fruit) combos in my collection and one my wishlist, this one doesn't make the cut for me, even though I find it very enjoyable. It could be the perfect blend for someone who likes marshmallow-ish fragrances, but also needs some fresh citrus notes to make them wearable.

Vanilla cake
I bought a decant of this perfume to test it, as I love vanilla perfumes. On first spray, it was bitter and strong on the alcohol, which immediately made me want to wash it off. I didn’t. I waited it out about ten minutes as the scent began turning into a strange vanilla. It was nice, but not as nice as it was an hour later.
It ends with a beautiful vanilla, as if there’s a cake baking. I wanted to lick my own wrists! I never smelled the orange.

Longevity about 3 hours, sillage rather close, but very enjoyable on a personal level.

The most beautiful of all South Sea islands, immortalized in a dreamy fragrance
For a long time, I have been searching for the perfect vanilla-citrus scent. Vanîra Moorea ranks very high on my list of favorites. For summer, this fragrance is a bit too heavy for me, although that is precisely what I appreciate about it: a distinctly noticeable sillage and a long-lasting presence through a full, rounded scent. I find it extraordinarily beautiful because it wonderfully promises summer and allows me to dream of it for a long time - it is, so to speak, my summer extender. The fantastic balance of the citrus notes and vanilla is breathtakingly beautiful and very sophisticated. Although it has a gourmand-like quality, this is not a gelateria perfume. Nothing about it is Italian-light, I would say; Vanîra Moorea lacks the sweet-sour zest one would typically expect from the citrus-vanilla combination.

Instead, the fragrance, as I have already mentioned, is very rounded and deep, almost dark. Petitgrain brings a barely perceptible bitterness, and the orange is interpreted in a significantly more bitter and less sweet manner than might be expected. The highlight, however, is the fusion with the vanilla, a dark, deep, and floral-fine vanilla that takes up a lot of space without appearing even remotely gourmand. It appears precious and heavy in this perfume, like a dark pod with deep spice.

The scent accompanies one for a very long time, and one perceives it all the time as something extraordinarily precious and wonderful, as deliciously precious as the vanilla pod said to originate from the Pacific island of Mo'orea. The thought of Mo'orea awakens wanderlust; which island could better embody the South Sea cliché than it? Who could tear themselves away from its white beaches, blue skies, and sparkling bays?

This must have been how Gauguin felt, who did not want to leave the South Sea islands. His rugged-looking, sun-kissed Polynesian women are not delicate, fragile island beauties, just as the vanilla in Vanîra Moorea is not a bright, sweet, flat vanilla. Gauguin's Tahitian women are fleshy and plump, yet adorned with flowers and bathed in pink light. They remind me of the Tahiti vanilla used in Vanîra Moorea: presumably a cross between spice and Guadeloupe vanilla, it enjoys the status of its own identity reserved for the South Sea. It is rarely used in the kitchen, as its flavor deviates significantly from the spice vanilla we know. However, it unfolds an incomparably greater olfactory potential; it is famous primarily for its aromatic richness, less vanilla-like, but more floral and full of enchanting scent notes, especially variations of anise.

Thus, the rich, floral spice of Vanîra Moorea gifts me with the most beautiful associations of perhaps the most beautiful South Sea island: its green rainforest mountain range with Mont Rotui as an impassable, mysterious destination, its deep blue sea, the snow-white sand - a South Sea dream unfolds before my inner eye. To stumble upon real vanilla pods in the rainforest and capture them in situ, to swim with the whales, gazing over Opunohu Bay while enjoying freshly pressed pineapple juice or fresh coconut - that is the little piece of happiness that I may never reach. But I can evoke it and almost physically feel it when I wear Vanîra Moorea.

Back to Nature
Yesterday I took another break at the Berdoues shelf - which has already become a dear habit of mine.

I would have long been "buying" if it weren't for the tempting selection of potential fragrances.

Berdoues makes it difficult for you.

My father used to say: If you can't decide, take both.
I like to act according to this motto - but he didn't say: If you can't decide, take all six!
I've already tested about that many Berdoues - and they all attracted me.

Today I reached for Moorea - and I had to linger there as well.

A fresh sweet naturalness, with a hint of green, captivated me.
This natural note has been a characteristic of all the Berdoues I've tested so far.
The manageable ingredients feel very authentic.

The green citrusy Petitgrain pairs perfectly with the juicy orange, and the sweet vanilla rounds off the fragrance harmoniously.

Previously, I was leaning towards the delicately marzipan-like Brazil - now I enjoyed the relaxed stroll through the botanical garden.
One walks carefree through Mother Nature - and indulges in tranquility.

My husband shifted impatiently from one foot to the other - but I will not let myself be deterred from testing the entire extremely appealing Berdoues range.

Delicious Vanilla-Orange Ice Cream,… oh stop drooling already!… :D
Today I’m writing about a Berdoues fragrance, which always attracts me with its beautifully designed bottles and encourages me to test them. Although they are actually just rectangular and tall, the bottles still have lovely motifs that you enjoy holding in your hand, especially the fragrance Assam of India, on whose bottle you can see many colorful and cute little elephants :)

Well, the fragrances themselves are certainly not bad either. Often simply composed with only a few notes, they usually smell quite good, though not extraordinary. Many of them might not be must-haves, but they are still nice scents that could find a place on someone’s shelf (I myself want to get Assam of India someday… and no, not just because of the elephants, but also because I like the tea scent! That was obvious, right? :D)

So,… now that the heatwave has subsided a bit (and I hope it stays that way!), I can occasionally test a fragrance with vanilla in it. Like Vânira Moorea, which doesn’t seem to be made only for autumn or winter and could potentially be worn on warmer days, as I see great orange notes in the fragrance list below that could smell fresh. So let’s see how this fragrance is!

The Scent:
Aaah, at the beginning I smell a light vanilla that comes across warm and sweet, and its powdery aura is really wonderful. But then there are also oranges, which aren’t necessarily sparkling, but still come across citrusy and fresh. The combination of not too heavy vanilla and oranges makes the fragrance feel to me like I’m eating vanilla ice cream with orange pieces, which is incredibly refreshing on hot days like we’ve all experienced lately!!!
You can still smell a bit of orange notes later on, although these gradually fade away. After a while, the vanilla clearly takes center stage, and this is also the only note that lingers much later.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is average and can be smelled well at a short distance. It could have been a tad stronger.
However, the longevity is good and lasts for many hours, though not as long as some other vanilla fragrances. But eight to ten hours is still easily achievable!

The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular with slightly rounded edges. As always, it features a nice motif printed on the back inner wall of the bottle, which can be seen because the front is transparent and only the fragrance label is stuck there. For this scent, the motif shows vanilla flowers. As always, this bottle is very nice to look at.

Wow, I can almost taste the ice cream in my mouth. Delicate, melting vanilla ice cream that refreshes deliciously and feels so good on hot days. Additionally, there are orange pieces or a light orange aroma that gives the somewhat monotonous vanilla a little fruity variation, making everything taste even better, especially if there are actually fruit pieces in the ice cream, whose juice enhances the enjoyment of the ice cream even more while chewing!
Hmm… are you already drooling? :D
*Hands over tissues to wipe your mouth* he he he :D

And just as wonderful as you can imagine the taste here, the fragrance smells just as great and is a lovely, fresh yet warm summer companion and, by the way, one of the few vanilla scents that can also be worn in summer (well, maybe not necessarily during heatwaves…)!
But don’t expect anything complex! Like most Berdoues fragrances (or at least the ones I know so far), the scent is quite simple, as it has few notes. But sometimes this simplicity is just right, especially when you want a specific scent direction that is simply well done without many additional notes alongside.

Anyone who likes vanilla and light citrus notes should definitely try this lovely fragrance, which can be used well during the day. It works for going out too, as the vanilla lasts longer, even if the citrus notes should have long disappeared later on.

Vanilla and orange, almost green. Seems to quickly turn to candy. A more subdued and balanced version of Killian Love Don't Be Shy.

Super fresh Vanilla. It gets a little dense in the drydown but still great for spring.

Adult, creamy citrus freshness. Everyday suitable, pleasantly bitter-sweet, no sunscreen, no coconut.
