If I were a Berliner..
Soon it's that time again. I'm going to Berlin for a few days to visit friends and I'm really looking forward to it. After all, there is in my opinion not necessarily the most beautiful (that is Hamburg) or most beautiful (that is Munich) but still the most interesting metropolis of the republic always something to discover. Be it on the subject of culture or something culinary ... i always went home with great new impressions.
Olfactory, I was always drawn to the KaDeWe, to The Different Scent in Krausnickstraße or Harry Lehmann in Kantstraße. Of course, there are many more perfumeries or perfume manufactories - but to Birkholz it will unfortunately not pull me. That's partly because the fragrances are now even available in Düsseldorf ... but also because I can start with their creations so far nothing.
So Berlin Sky is further proof that I do not trust the brand much. The bottle in the form of the Brandenburg Gate looks like from any souvenir shop and the fragrance reminds me strikingly of cheap aftershave from the supermarket. Quite spicy and very fresh, but with an unnecessary sharpness of citrus and lavender notes that seems excessive even for nostalgics. In between, a seemingly out of place synthetic apple, which could have been saved.
No idea what is supposed to be fruity about it, but Berlin Sky seems quite half-baked there. The basic idea of the fragrance is possibly not wrong, if one had taken given ingredients with higher quality. I really try to recognize something good, especially since it has its justification on hot days. But there are simply better and accordingly also far cheaper. And this is exactly the crux of the matter. Birkholz pretends to be luxurious, but offers only plain overpriced home cooking. At least that's how I feel about their freshers.
If I were Berliner, I would ask myself why one denigrates the Berlin sky so and would visit their store and annoy with questions until they improve the fragrance or rename it. This is definitely not the famous Berlin air ... there would have been more in it.
