Intensely herbal-spicy coriander-oud, for a change not necessarily a run-away scent!
So, today I got this sample while fishing. Well, I'm obviously not an angler; when I talk about fishing or angling, I mean the act of pulling a sample from the sample box. But you could maybe compare it a bit to fishing, because you never know what you’re going to get!
Somehow, I have to think of Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump. You know, the part where he sits on that bench and muses about things like “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get!”
Although, I know exactly what I’ve got here. A glance at the sample and another glance at the fragrance pyramid here on Parfumo shows me that I’ve fished out a scent with oud. Which is okay, since oud can work well in autumn and winter instead of being overwhelming in summer.
If only coriander wasn’t listed as well… *sigh*
But let’s see, with a bit of luck (which I NEVER have!) I’m sure the coriander will be perceived as extra-intense, argh! :D
I KNEW IT!!
The scent starts with nice oud, a bit of rose, patchouli, and a little oakmoss. So it smells okay, especially for people who can appreciate such a fragrance. But in the background, I smell exactly what I already suspected: coriander!
However, it seems that the coriander doesn’t really unfold (woohooo, did I actually get lucky??) and retreats to the background, where I hope it will stay.
The rest, as I said, is quite nice. The scent is rather spicy, woody, but also herbal, and with the rose, it has an oriental touch.
And later, starting from the base, I find the scent even a bit nicer. I mean, you can still smell the coriander, but it’s weaker, so it doesn’t really bother anymore; moreover, you can smell more of the tobacco, which enhances the fragrance. In the later base, the scent is mainly spicy and oudy, and from the other notes, you mainly smell the earthy patchouli and the tobacco. That’s not bad, but it’s also not that special (for me).
And at the very end, it only smells of patchouli, which also slightly reminds me of vetiver. And by then, the coriander has completely disappeared :D
Thus, the longevity is also enormous; I could smell the fragrance into the late night and even a tiny bit the next morning.
Yes, yes, yes, some of you probably figured out that I wouldn’t like the scent that much, right? However, I must say that, although I didn’t really like the scent in the top and heart notes (which is really due to the coriander, even if it should be a bit weaker compared to other fragrances here), the scent generally gives off a high-quality impression and should really appeal to anyone who enjoys the notes radiating from it (unless, of course, one can’t stand oakmoss, as some really dislike that note). And I didn’t find the base really bad either, but I still can’t quite connect with this scent here.
Such a fragrance is, as I already mentioned in the introduction, a pure autumn and winter scent, as such fragrances really don’t work in summer… hmm… but isn’t it the case in the Orient that even in sweltering summer temperatures, people use such intense fragrances? Well, cultures are just different, but such a scent would kill me in summer, especially with coriander in it, yuck! :D
I mean, what’s the point of coriander anyway? (Warning, I’m rambling a bit again… :D). It doesn’t smell good… it doesn’t taste good… unfortunately, it also bears a certain resemblance to parsley, so one could easily confuse the two, and then you’ve got the… uh, salad? Mu ha ha, yuck!
Fortunately, the scent retreats more and more into the background, so it hasn’t become catastrophic for me; no, as I said, I find the base nice! Therefore, I don’t need to rant further about coriander; I’ll save that for fragrances that smell truly deadly of this herb :D
Anyway, due to the high-quality scent (okay, and of course also because of the beautiful bottle), I’ve become curious about this brand, so I can well imagine testing more fragrances from this label in the future!
In short: If you like oud and coriander and generally spicy fragrances, you should check out this scent, unless you don’t like oakmoss, although the oakmoss here isn’t that strong. Now I’m done,… honestly :D

The scent:
I knew it. I KNEW IT!!

The sillage and longevity:
With the first spray, you’re enveloped in a little cloud of fragrance. With the second spray, you’re in a big cloud of fragrance. With the third (and more) spray, the whole city can smell you :D Yes, the sillage is quite strong, although it does noticeably weaken after a few hours. But still, it belongs to the stronger scents I’ve tried recently. Thus, the longevity is also enormous; I could smell the fragrance into the late night and even a tiny bit the next morning.
The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and looks as if the actual amber-colored bottle is encased in a ribbed black sleeve or box. Of course, this “sleeve” is also made of glass and belongs to the bottle. On the front, there’s a gold-metallic label with the name of the fragrance, and the cap could be the top of a column. The whole thing vaguely reminds me of Art Deco objects, and I think it looks great!Yes, yes, yes, some of you probably figured out that I wouldn’t like the scent that much, right?
