If you just like it smoky
It cannot be emphasized often enough: the Boadicea the Victorious flacons are an absolute feast for the eyes. In their Celtic-inspired way simply beautiful to look at and also haptically a pleasure.
However, external appearance and content drift unfortunately a little apart - so also with Complex.
In itself a feiste announcement in the direction of super smoky incense in conjunction with massive leather and one, two drops of oud. In addition, a good shot of sage. Life could be so beautiful and exciting, but "Complex" is unfortunately ... how to say: like an overacting actor, an over-seasoned meal or an overdriven hi-fi system.
What seems overdone here, is the m. E. much too smoky resin, which almost comes close to an olfactory conflagration. Although the leather fits in its tart, rough kind - just also in connection with the oud. However, the sage here seems somewhat out of place or at least like a foreign body and thus relatively disharmonious in the entire composition.
Only later in the mellowed Drydown all components seem far more coordinated and thus also more satisfying. Here I felt enormously reminded of "Knize Ten" - one of the best leather fragrances ever. But until then it is a long and partly exhausting way.
When I appeared the day before yesterday morning with the fragrance in the office, I feared the colleagues would call the fire department or make stupid sayings - however, none of this happened ... where I wonder how jaded my co-workers and counter-workers are.
Accordingly, "Complex" is not a feel-good fragrance, but a little provocation or an exploration of the boundaries. For whisky lovers, a comparison with an Ardbeg would be understandable. Those whiskies also tend to a very smoky and peaty and quite medicinal to leathery note. For beginners rather unsuitable, for advanced the heaven on earth. Although "Complex" has by no means the same value, but who likes the distinctive Islay whiskies, could probably find taste here.
