Stylish Understatement without Surprises
MischerPrice Modular Fragrance No. 602: From Bon Parfumeurs scents for layering, mixing, etc., the 602 is said to be one of the few fragrances that could stand on its own. After extensive testing, I can mostly agree with this - with a few caveats. However, to experience the overall rather slender scent in a more multifaceted way, one should apply it a bit more generously - due to its rather moderate sillage and its almost lean longevity (about four to five hours).
Spicy-resinous notes underlined by warm, slightly smoky wood nuances are initially noticeable. The citrus is really only very brief and more in the background. A somewhat mature cedar and the incense play the main role in the first one to two hours, with the benzoin resin providing the resinous-warm connection. After that, the scent shifts a bit more towards the earthy: While the slightly incense-laden cedar steps back behind the sweet benzoin, a very pleasant patchouli (without basement mustiness) moves forward, completing the development.
All of this may sound rather unoriginal, but it works quite well as a daily scent for work, as neither you nor anyone else in your surroundings will be greatly surprised or overwhelmed by it, and yet the 602 is quite rounded and valuable in its composition, embodying a stylish understatement, a "Booze and Bacci" in a short and restrained form.
Less stylish in its understatement is the label on the simple bottle. However, it could surely be easily removed to let one's creativity in design run free - keyword: Paper Art, for those who like it..
Since I can't perceive the aforementioned vetiver in the 602, I recommend for those who prefer fragrances to be a bit more complex and want to do justice to the MischerPrice modular principle, to add a spray of the 601 (Vetiver, Cedar, Bergamot) right from the start. This makes the opening significantly greener and fresher, and the vetiver also brings a pleasant restlessness to the heart and base, but smooths out some of the edges of the 602.

I had the chance to test all the Bon Parfumeurs at my leisure. The concept seems very appealing to me, as the scents are all quite subtle and there isn't a bad one among them. I really like the understated quality, and I appreciate your description as well.
