One to like ... but not to love
I generally have a rough time with Bond no.9 fragrances. I find most of what I have tried to be more about flash than substance ... and to be fair I have only sampled about a dozen from the line, not having direct access to them where I live. I have some fabulous community friends who have spoiled me with samples :).
Strangely enough, Cooper Square tickles my recently rekindled fancy with Patchouli. I went through a stage of olfactory boredom with it some time ago, but that seems to have dissipated and I'm back to full enjoyment. I also like the resiny aspects here but first and foremost on my skin is a healthy dose of Lavender. This lends CS a strong 'old school' masculine vibe, faintly reminiscent of erstwhile homme-bombs like Jazz, Drakkar Noir and Paco Rabanne's original in the green bottle. Definitely more for the guys this one ... possibly even more for the twenty-to-thirty-something male set. As much as I like it I couldn't see myself carrying it off totally successfully as my tastes have changed ... but I'm sure if it had been around twenty years ago that would have been a different story ... I was known to be a chronic over sprayer of YSL's Jazz :) ... my fragrance usually arrived 10 minutes before I did!
The sillage and longevity here are above average ... I find others from this house weak and insipid.
All in all a very nice fragrance from Bond no.9 ... a statement I was despairing of ever making.
Would I spend the unconscionable asking price on it? No ... I wouldn't ... I maintain that one has to be an avid collector of this house to do that.
