Heavenly Oud
Well, I have to say that this one surprised me. I thought this would be a very easy to wear with no Oud in here but, surprisingly, this has a little bit of that skanky Oud in the background, which is quite good, to be honest.

When you spray this you'll be able to smell the rose with some bergamot and a shy tea note. Love this unisex fresh opening! 10min later the tea will dominate the fragrance and the leather accord appears. There's a good accord here. Like the one you'll find in Black from the same brand or even Midnight in Paris but without the rubber note. Excellent!
The Oud is there basically since the tea starts to shine. Is giving a skanky yet sexy vibe and later on, the fragrance turns a little bit yummy. It's complex and has the three stages very well achieved! The Oud isn't potent (which for those who don't like it is good and for lovers it's pleasant too) but isn't that synthetic so I really appreciate it. Bravo Mr. Jacques Cavallier! Heavenly!

The performance is not beastly. It's suave but I love it that way. I get 7+ hours although with low projection. It's comforting and I love to wear it on a breezy spring/summer nights.

The price is very adequate and you can find a 75ml bottle for less than 50€. The quality is great too!

I recommend it to everyone that likes Rose-Oud combos with a twist. It's different enough thanks to that Tea note.

Oud-Rose Fragrance with Black Tea on a Visit
Oud and the black tea immediately create a wave of smoky black tea, like Lapsang Souchong, for example. Then the rose oil slowly mixes in. For the brief moment when these three are roughly in balance, it is a smoky tea-rose scent. The black tea then retreats first, leaving behind an oud-rose fragrance, slightly smoky and woody. From here on, the scent quickly pulls back to the skin. It oscillates between oud and rose. Interestingly, it fades out softly smoky and creamy. However, I can't explain the cream.

I see the longevity in the medium range at about six hours. The sillage, aside from the first moments, is rather weak.

This Bulgari doesn't excite me, but I think it's an oud-rose fragrance that can be worn without being overwhelming.

My First Oud Fragrance
Here I am, sniffing my hand for some time now.
At first, I couldn't quite place the Thé Noir, good - not good ... it was balanced.
But now my skin has decided and is giving off a very soft yet strong
pleasant scent for me. Not a room fragrance, but I can't express it any other way. The rose is well embedded in a soft wood. I assume it's oud. I have no other experience with oud and have so far avoided all the oud fragrances.

Bergamot did not come through for me, which I think is good, as it doesn't quite fit my taste in this blend.

Patchouli integrates wonderfully.

It actually suits a winter evening, sitting snuggled up on the couch with a great book.

The sillage is quite good.

The longevity for me is about 5 - 6 hours, which I find surprising for an Eau de Cologne.

My conclusion: highly recommendable but rather for winter, and I like it a lot, even though it's currently 24 degrees warm for me.

Spicy Country Air?
Even though black tea is the focus in the title, I know other perfumes where the tea note is much more pronounced. On my skin, this scent primarily presents itself as a rose-oud combination.
While I have a few perfumes (as a bottle or decant) that contain oud at least in name, some probably also as a scent note - I am really anything but an expert on the topic of oud. Therefore, I will only share my personal experiences with this scent note, which can apparently present itself in quite a few facets.
In a few oud perfumes, I perceive a distinct manure note. The most extreme case for me was "Oud Assam" (Rania) - but apparently this perception is very individually shaped. Some perfumers actually appreciate this animalistic-dirty expression of oud, but for me, it’s not appealing at all.

It seems to be similar in everyday life. "Spicy country air" can be seen as a somewhat ironic designation for the emissions of freshly fertilized fields in rural areas, but some people actually do not find this smell unpleasant. Ammonia itself is a pungent but not rotten-smelling gas (keyword smelling salts!), which in low concentrations can indeed come across as a bit fresh. The more or less pronounced rotten aspect comes from the hydrogen sulfide that also escapes from manure, which we also know from rotten eggs.

In this perfume, I also perceive a very slight manure note. But it is so weak that it doesn’t really bother me; rather, it adds a certain something to this perfume.

The following image probably describes best how I perceive this perfume: I am sitting on the terrace of a beautiful, well-kept country hotel with a cup of black tea, surrounded by lush blooming rose bushes. However, in the surrounding fields, a farmer has recently fertilized. A very faint breeze sometimes wafts over to me... But it is so weak that I actually perceive it more as fresh-spicy than truly unpleasant - because the roses are closer and stronger!

In Search of Tea
Vacation flashback, Day 6 on Norderney:

First, I need to rest after a restless night. I couldn't fall asleep well and wonder if it was due to the island's silence. Our usual street concert from the big city is absent. That's good; it brings relaxation. Theoretically… because it always takes a little while for the body to adjust to this new situation, even if it is healing for the soul.

Today, I simply stay lying down and read the entertaining little book "The Café on the Edge of the World" in one go. I try to enjoy the silence, which is currently interrupted by loud birdsong. Why do we do this so rarely at home?

Time for a long-overdue test: Bulgari - Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir is up next.

My first impression: smoky, oppressive oud, with black tea very subtly in the background. Hopefully, it will develop a bit more! So let's see how the scent evolves.

In the meantime, I tidy up our holiday apartment and wonder where we get the ability to completely devastate our temporary habitat in such a short time. Even the birds observe a moment of silence in accusation, or was it because a large seagull crossed its flight?

A second sniff reveals to me that the scent is still musty. Too bad, I'm just not an oud fan. Only this perfume from Clean Reserve, Sueded Oud, has managed to win my heart. But back to Bulgari: black tea is subtly present, but if I hadn't known that this is a tea scent, I probably wouldn't have been able to identify that note, not to mention the stated rose essence.

A bit depressed, I now have to admit that I still find the scent musty after an hour and am a little glad about the low longevity of this Eau Parfumée.

Yes, oud,
a good idea overall.
But in terms of smell,
mostly yuck.

Floral first: roses and clean white florals, with a tinge of woodiness that feels just out of reach. Perfectly serviceable, modern, clean.

A solid representative of the numerous rose-oud genre. Besides, the noticeable black tea-note gives the whole thing the interesting touch.

Beautiful smokey-tea-oud. I have the Cologne version, which lasts well enough. Dark, but transparent and gentle.

Snow White on the dark side of power! Plays basketball, smokes, and smells of Oud! A "gentle" Noir of a completely different kind!

Eccentric black tea blend with some rose petals and a hint of oud and patchouli. And in the distance, a stable door is still open.

Snow White's (Green Tea) evil brother: surprisingly animalistic oud, patch, bitter notes, little rose: sweaty on the horse.

It has something! The combination of floral fresh notes, tea, and a hint of medicinal oud is quirky yet wearable.

Actually, I'm not a fan of tea scents & the rose-oud trend is pretty much over. BUT I really like the rose-oud-tea here.
