Rose soda perfume

Such a fizzy and sparkling rose, it almost feels carbonated! If soda was less sweet and came in rose flavor, it would surely smell like this. Szechuan pepper in food has a tingly, tongue-numbing quality instead of just being spicy like regular pepper. That's obviously difficult to translate into scent, so I think Byredo went for a sparkling, slightly peppery note to get a similar feeling. There is also a lot of refreshing citrus in this, so it creates a similar sensation to opening a can of sprite, just with less sugar and added rose.
I think the name Young Rose is quite fitting, not because I find this only suitable for a young people (age-grouping fragrances is my pet peeves), but because the rose itself feels young, fresh and dewy, like it just started to bloom. This is a very clean and cool scent, so I find it most fitting for warm days.

I really enjoy fresh, bubbly scents like this and it's a nice idea to have this texture in a rose scent. But if I had to chose a summer scent by Byredo, would rather buy Bal d'Afrique or Sundazed, they just feel even more exciting and special to me.

gentle thorns

A spring-in-your-step rose. A sweet-n-sour candy rose. The dozens of reviewers before me said it best: this is pink lemonade. Surprised how well the pepper plays like a seltzer-y citrus, as I caught lemon long before I could even appreciate any rose. I love the tiniest bite it has. But they’re gentle thorns, like kitten claws or puppy teeth. Filed under: “a great rose for people who don’t like rose.” (If you want a true, youthful pepper-rose, Raving Rose by Dries Van Noten may be a better bet). She doesn’t last very long on my skin (~2h) and fades out as a classic Byredo just-showered musk, but still one of my favourite roses.

Mental Snapshot: Peach-cheeked lovebirds. Friendship bracelets. Scented stationery. A beach cruiser, built for two. A week of unseasonably sunny weather, of picnics in the park. A pair of jelly sandals, already broken in. Springtime, personified.

My first niche fragrance I fell in love with

I have been considering myself a perfume hater before I tried Young rose from Byredo. It felt like a fresh air on a mountain where flowers soak in the morning rain. And I sit there to have a picnic with my first love who brought a homemade lemon jam. After 2 years standing on my shelf, it started to be much stronger, therefore I believe its best time autumn or spring being a perfect choice for a raining day, or on a frost early morning in winter.

A truly young rose with leaves, stem, thorns and dew

I tried all the popular Byredo fragrances (yes in absolu forms too) before landing on Young Rose and it’s still my only full bottle from the house, in my modest collection.

To me, this fragrance is less a scent and more an image. A lush field of beautiful pink roses, their leaves are fresh, green and dewy; the thorns are soft yet present. The scent captures a single stalk from this field - flower, stalk, stem, leaves, thorns and all.

I don’t get any citrus or pepper in particular but just the rose and I’m not complaining.

The longevity is decent for Byredo, ~4 hours on skin before settling into an intimate scent, almost 8 hours on clothes.

Spring essential

This is what the Copenhagen it-girls smell like in my head - fun, colorful, modern!! As the name suggests, this is a young, happy rose that is a little musky and green. Almost dewy.
I think it wears best at the start of spring, when the sun is finally out but the weather is still a little chilly... I feel like it would bring out the zesty freshness of the sichuan pepper and leave such a nice suble trail. I enjoy it, it makes me feel pretty :)
