What a find.

I have now purchased all of the confidential range and I am blown away by the quality of most of them. Compared to the normal CH range there is no comparison and hence why I was skeptical in the beginning. Saffron Lazuli is one I truly enjoy. Having grown up in Spain the saffron brings back wonderful memories. I agree with the below comment there is a wonderful smooth leather which are my go to scents. This is very good and worth the money.

Addictive lazuli (update 28/05/2021)

I ve heard a lot about this fragrance so I made about 45 km to test it but the shop didn’t have to give me a sample and also didn’t know how to sample fragrances on customers skin. They spray the air and expect the perfume to fall on your skin...Also didn’t let me touch the bottle to sample it myself due to corona virus regulations. If I had a better sampling experience, I believe I would have bought it by now.

The fragrance begins with an intense saffron tonka combination similar to oud for greatness regarding the intensity of the saffron. Oud for greatness is more earthy and this is more nutty from the tonka bean. After it settles on the skin, the saffron intensity disappears but you still get a spiciness from it. As it settles also, the floral notes come out together with the leather, making it more creamy-leathery-floral.

At the beginning I thought it was more masculine but after it settles it became a bit more feminine because of the floral notes that revealed. So it is totally unisex in my opinion. It doesn’t scream femininity, but it is more for women who love more spicy leathery scents rather than floral.

As for the performance, it still smells on my skin after I had a shower and despite the bad sampling on my skin so I guess it’s very good!

UPDATE: Since I had my birthday recently, I asked this for a gift and got it. So now that I sampled it properly I can assure you about all the above. Its a creamy-leathery-floral scent with a saffron on the background. Its unisex but after the saffron fades, the floral notes and the vanilla are more prominent so its most suitable for a woman. Also, the packaging has a list of the notes and there isnt any leather in it, but I feel like I can smell it even from smelling the bottle. Also, in the notes, Cardamome is listed which is not listed here. If there isnt any leather, maybe this leathery feeling is coming from a strong dense vanilla with the cardamome.
The performance is not beast but its decent. It is a well made fragrance.

Great dark saffron scent with a wonderful sweetness

A fragrance I have wanted for a long time: Saffron Lazuli from the Confidential line. Due to the price and exclusivity, this can be considered a kind of "Private Blend" from this brand. A truly great line, of which I also own the "Gold Myrrh Absolute | Carolina Herrera." I love these bottles and these high-quality fragrances. I absolutely had to have this one as I already enjoy such sweet saffron scents. This Saffron Lazuli slightly reminds me of "Side Effect | Initio," but I would describe it as a bit darker. If you like this rough fragrance DNA and are looking for an alternative, you will find one here. The sweetness behind this saffron spice is really strong and makes it quite wearable in the evening and during the cooler months. Price-wise, this line is quite niche and high at 250€ in the RRP, but I managed to snag it for under 150€ for 100ml. It's worth it if you like sweet-spicy fragrances. This line is also marketed by Puig, just like the designer line. They can handle this increased budget quite well, and you get something for your money.

The bottle is quite pretty with this large design and these great edges. This blue tone is really nice as well. A true eye-catcher with this great base and also this wonderful cap. The packaging is also really eye-catching with its glossy appearance.
The scent, as mentioned, leans very much towards Side Effect with this lovely sweet spice. Definitely a fragrance that I only see for the evening in darkness. This scent has mysterious vibes that unfold better in the dark with this wonderful dark saffron spice. Black currant also appears in the opening with a slightly tart fruity note. The heart notes of iris root and rose also provide a great vibe of floral notes. The rose here has a warm and sensual note. It convinces with a lovely warm note that hugs the saffron beautifully. In the base, a lot of sweetness comes through with vanilla and creamy tonka bean. The sweetness runs throughout the entire progression and gives this fragrance a wonderful sweetness that is not overwhelming but rather stylish and sensual. Additionally, there is a dark guaiac wood note that harmonizes with the other notes. Really harmonious, and at times in the beginning, this fragrance has a slight boozy vibe that softens a bit as it develops. It's a great piece that can be worn wonderfully during the dark hours of the year, preferably in the evening and at night.
Performance is really good and lasts around 10 hours. Very, very satisfying, also with this great sillage. The top note is extremely strong and projects well. For everyday wear, it might be too much in some industries. The fragrance is unisex and is just as wearable by both genders as Side Effect, being sweet-spicy and absolutely mass-appealing without being too ordinary.

Overall, a fragrance that I can absolutely recommend, especially if you enjoy saffron paired with a lot of sweetness. Thumbs up for this great line from CH.

Fruity-Leathery Saffron Beautifully Staged

A rather sweet, not surprisingly fruity saffron opening with immediately noticeable floral undertones. The saffron is subtle and well-balanced. Even two companions, who are not big saffron fans, really liked it in the first 30 minutes. The tonka freshness and berries are a complement that makes it feel nicely juicy, but also less spicy and oriental, slightly unusual and characteristic, which is always a plus for me.

After 30-40 minutes, the flowers become more pronounced, with a clear saffron-rose heart, while a bit of residual fruitiness remains; here it slowly transforms from the fresh-fruity opening into a lovely evening scent, still on the lighter side for saffron-rose fragrances, as there are definitely darker options out there.

Still within the first hour, one can subtly notice the leather accord from the base amidst the floral saffron combination, very fine, oiled suede leather, embracing the rose, iris, and saffron, giving it a very noble, polished feel, yet the fragrance has a pleasant presence. Not overly aggressive, but still noticeably present and characteristic for 90-120 minutes.

Saffron Lazuli is indeed one of my favorite fragrances that truly puts saffron in the spotlight, even though it plays around with fruity, floral, and slightly leathery notes later on, one always has the feeling that only individual aspects and possible perspectives on saffron are being explored. A successful symphony.
