A creeping civet cat in lurking mode
Now I'm testing the Nino Cerruti pour Femme Eau de Parfum. Unfortunately, I don't like this mini quite as much as the Nino Cerruti pour Femme Eau de Toilette. This may be due to its age or the extreme animalic nature of the civet. The longevity is generous at around 10 hours and the sillage is also more than okay so far.
The top note smells green and herbaceous of bergamot and coriander. Dried plums bring a sweetness to the fragrance. Then floral undertones of marigold, carob carounde and jasmine blossom emerge. The heart note drifts off into a floral sea of rose water, tuberose, iris, violet, garden carnation, ylang-ylang and heliotrope. It smells almost numbing and narcotic. The base is very animalic thanks to civet and musk. The civet cat has me in its clutches and I can't get rid of it. Moss brings an earthiness to the fragrance and sandalwood and cedarwood provide balsamic notes. Towards the end, I recognize a sweetness that reminds me of bourbon vanilla.
This is an exciting chypre fragrance but, curiously, I liked the eau de toilette much better.
