Keep your head cool.
A summer scent that doesn't catapult me to Italy or even the Caribbean by the shortest route, can open my doors. Sure, oranges and basil don't exactly grow on the Atlantic coast, but on the way from Paris to Deauville your head is blown free. The playful sides of Mediterranean Dolce Vita fragrances are missing here and this is very good for the fragrance. The fragrance lets you breathe deeply and remains serious.
The elegance one encounters in exclusive seaside resorts is something I recognize. There is no padding or spilling here, but it is used in a well-dosed manner and there is even a little understatement. I feel the scent cool and with it I deliberately separate it from "fresh". This is not a typical refreshing fragrance, but I would rather place it in Dior's "Escale" line if you want to make a comparison. I also assume that the makers at Chanel had similar intentions when they commissioned the three new fragrances.
Paris-Deauville shows that it is possible to create an elegant summer fragrance with just a few ingredients, without appearing minimalist or even banal. I like that very much and still I miss a little hook, a corner, a smile, a little extravagance. I'd like to wear it if I got it for free. But I don't have to buy it extra, especially since I'm afraid that the price isn't good enough to take it with me in passing.
With regard to the Chanel range, however, I can say: something like this was missing - and I'm glad that Chanel is still able to create perfumes without serving the LVEB rail. Bravo Olivier Polge! Now, of course, I am curious about the other two fragrances of the series.
