This is the versatile perfume you are looking for
An amazingly beautiful perfume that opens with powerful Aldehydes, which is what makes Chanel unique, along with an amazing powdery floral for those who love the genre, such as: Heliotrope, French iris pallida, Cherry blossom, and of course musky notes.

This blend simply feels like heaven on me.

In terms of performance, they are quite good on me.

The longevity is surprising for a perfume of this type, when from morning to evening you could smell the perfume close to the skin.

As for the SILLAGE, in the first 3-4 hours it is good and then stays close to the skin.

The perfume is very versatile, suitable for all seasons, day and night, work and going out.

It’s a True, it is more feminine, but in my opinion the graph here is misleading and it is more balanced and suitable for men as well.

Right now this perfume is on my wish list.

8.5/10.

Not a big surprise
I see much hate for cherry blossom and powdery scents all over the internet. This new Chanel has both... I bet it will receive some bad reviews... Anyway, I find it nice and easy to wear. Not a big surprise in the Chanel Les Exclusifs collection though, very Chanel spirit.
Its longevity is above the average and its sillage is not very strong. You won't annoy your co-workers with Comète.

Glorious / Gorgeous / Magical ʕ •ᴥ•ʔゝ
Enchanting...magic in a bottle. Divine. First, you get a hint of plush, realistic cherry that becomes enveloped in the Chanel makeupy aura, but not their usual kind: the aldehydes are quieter, especially because there's not that initial citrus punch carrying them through. Comète is soft but ever present, and while it does evolve over time, you're always enveloped in this hazy cloud of iris. It's a joy to wear.

I remember trying it out at the store and feeling so conflicted: I thought I didn't like powdery stuff so much, so why is this so captivating? Why can't I stop sniffing my wrist!!!??? Two sample vials later and...full bottle. Chanel was smart to add something softer to their Exclusifs line because it's gonna be (it already is!) a hit with a loooot of people that aren't fans of the brand. And it still feels Chanel through and through. Comète is just gorgeous to experience and a true example of how perfumery can be artful and soft-spoken too.

Not chanel style, more Violet than flowers mentioned
It doesn't smell like a Chanel fragrance at all and the aldehydes don't appear in the same way as in other fragrances from Les Exclusifs collection. The scent is powdery, but not as much as you might imagine from the combination of iris and Heliotrope. It is not dry powdery, like La Pausa for example. The whole thing smells rather like it has a lot of Violet and the smell in general reminds me of the color Purple (I don't immediately think of purple if smelling Iris). The aroma is sweet and "moist". Heliotrope is neither vanilla-like, nor almond-like, but the scent is thick, still not creamy and it brings the sweetness to the scent. The notes say "musky notes" and I think the scent is here very similar to Ambrette which has a sweet floral musky nuances. In the dry down the sharp scent of Violet changes into a softer texture and it's more like a mix of subtle Iris and clear Heliotrope.

The scent is soft, pretty and pleasant, but I understand why we have been disappointed with it. It's hard to say if I'll buy the whole bottle. It may be that I suddenly fall in love with it, because there is absolutely nothing unpleasant in this scent or blend in overall. The smell is familiar and it reminds me of something, and I'll tell you as soon as I get it in my head. The two most recent crushes on Violet Fragrances are Amour amour and Violettes du Czar (2014) , and perhaps the most unsuccessful Violet fragrance is just lately released Palatine (I wrote about it).

I will test this more and I will edit my thoughs.

Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review and it was helpful.

Chanel does Guerlain
I have a decant of Comète I swap Iris Dragee for.

The Opening: Sparkling aldehydes- dry, not wet - no suds.
Think a new bar of soap.

*The opening reminded me of Serge Lutens Dent de Lait, which to my nose, was an overdose
of aldehydes.
Made me think of a cold, brightly lit white room, shining stainless steel with drains in the floor.
Dexter Morgan’s kill room after it’s been clean.
Way too clean.
sinister
*

Fortunately Comete’s opening isn’t as dramatic as Dent de Lait.

Orange peel! Piercing aldehydes are creating an Intense heliotrope opening - think P.T Hiver’s Heliotrope Blanc on steroids.

Soft plastic (Barbie doll/cabbage patch kids) heliotrope, powdery with some almond nuances.

20 minutes later the aldehydes let up and I smell tart, pastel violet (creating the illusion of cherry blossoms which is a fantasy note)
A sweet but bitter green note that reminds me of angelica enters which are enveloped in sweet, powdery - almond like heliotrope, touch of waxiness.

I don’t smell Iris but I feel it in the texture it’s helping create.
It’s a similar texture to L’instant Magic but they don’t smell alike.

Nor do I smell Misia here or French Kiss (you’re joking) or Love in Black - what?!? Love in Black Violets and leather.
Comete is too fluffy and polite.

2 hours later, the Comete scent bubble I was in stops sparkling and sits very intimately creating a quiet fluffy musk on skin.

It’s a positive first impression still unsure if it Full Bottle worthy for me.

The issue is Comete is Aldehydes. Heliotrope and Violets. If I want Violets and Heliotrope there are better (more affordable) fragrances- L’heure Bleue or the modern version L’heure de Nuit (which last longer and is even more of a marshmallow fluff puff than Comete)

Even La Perla White Iris does Violet, heliotrope and musk better- 100 Ml $80-$100.

That’s the issue. I don’t know if the addition of Chanel aldehydes to a familiar Violet/Iris heliotrope makes it full bottle worth at $375 per 75ml.

Soft powdery violet, a bit of ambrette and aldehydes. Pleasant, but feels very plain for a Les Exclusifs.

Powdery heliotrope, powdery iris, powdery musk, with the sweetness of cherry blossom and almond. Smooth, delicate, serenely elegant.

Intense orange peel aldehydes with pastel violet (acting as cherry blossoms) covered under a Barbie doll heliotrope.
