My favorite Chanel fragrance
I tried this one a few times in Ulta before committing to a full bottle. I’ve smelled many many Chanel perfumes, none of which I really cared for. I think of all the designer houses, Chanel is one of my least favorite. Idk none of their scents seem to wow me or work with my chemistry.

However, Gabrielle Essence is a spectacular fragrance. It definitely still holds the Chanel DNA but does it in a way that I love and can wear. I’m a huge lover of white florals, and especially when they’re sat next to a bunch of fruits and/or vanilla. While the scent itself is on the lighter side from what I’ve smelled from Chanel, it’s quite strong and potent. Projection and longevity are moderate, but can be made stronger if you overspray and wear in high heat. I don’t get much of the coconut note, but I do get lots of the different types of white florals and the fruity notes. It becomes more vanillic as it dries down, but holds on to the white floral + fruits vibe. Don’t let the notes fool you, this is a mature take on a fruity floral fragrance that can be worn anytime. I couldn’t really see anyone below the age of 25 wearing this.

I’m really happy to have discovered this perfume and I’m even happier to have her in my collection. She’s going to be a spring and summer staple for sure!

The better Gabrielle
I'm not a big fan of the original Gabrielle, but this version is much more to my taste. Which is not a big surprise, considering that I often prefer Intense/Essence/Le Parfum/... flankers over the pillar fragrances.

In Gabrielle's case, I found the original too sharp, soapy and citrusy. Essence is a bit warmer, but still firmly in the clean floral territory. It starts out fresh and sparkling and dried down delightfully creamy. Ylang ylang and jasmine are easy to identify here. There is definitely a hint of the classic Chanel DNA in this, and something that reminds me slightly of Chance. I do not get a lot of the listed red fruits, instead I sense a hint of tropical notes. If scents had colors, Gabrielle Essence would have shades of yellow and white, no red.

This doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's very nicely done. I really enjoy how creamy it turns after a couple of hours.
Maybe a little less citrus or more vanilla would make it even better to me, but that's a matter of personal taste.

All in all I would categorize this as an elegant spring and summer scent. It smells great on warm skin and is ideal when you want to evoke something more sophisticated than fruity cocktails or sunscreen, but still feel sunny.

Gabrielle Essence
Gabrielle Essence opens up much better to my nose versus the original EDP. With that one, it seems harder to distinguish between notes, at first.

Essence doesn’t have the same sparkling brightness as the original, but the fruity notes are better and juicier overall. Not sharp, but smoothed out by the white floral notes, that make up the Gabrielle DNA.

This is a blend of peach and citrus, with a bit of coconut that becomes more noticeable deeper into the wear.

While the fruity opening is better here, it also is shorter lived to my nose. This one gets down to the floral notes rather quickly, but I actually like that phase of Essence.

The main difference with the floral notes for me is, Essence has a stronger emphasis on orange blossom and jasmine, at first. With the EDP, it was jasmine and tuberose. The tuberose in Gabrielle Essence doesn’t play that big of a role.

Eventually, the jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang are sharing most of the duties. That’s what I get for most of the rest of the wear. It’s a bit sweet and has a nice, but not thick creaminess about it.

Light musk and woodiness, at the base, but this is mostly all about those floral notes. Nothing overly complicated, just a variation of what you’d expect.

Floral and sophisticated
This scent just smells rich, feminine and confident.
Lovely well mixed white florals and soft musk: just an amazing blend.
You can feel the Chanel DNA with a youthful, classy twist.
A must have for that spring, quiet luxury feel.

Great projection, crazy long longevity!
I wore a top just a couple of hours and hung it back in my closet and could still smell it 3 weeks later every time I opened up my closet. It lasts at least 12+ hours on my skin.

For the classy ladies
I got Gabrielle Essence as a gift. It's super classy and elegant creamy floral fragrance but not generic. If you are a business woman with a suit you really should try this out. Don't be afraid because it's Chanel. Much more youthful than most of the Chanel fragrances.

I'm definitely not that boss lady so I don't think this suits me very well. However it's beautiful and performs nicely.

"soapier", more intense and very feminine, this flanker could represent the contemporary classy woman.

Tuberose (this version has 10% more of it in the formula) with a hot iron surface fom aldehydes. A mix of yellow dried fruit in background.

Bright, uplifting scent. It’s like the joy of life in a bottle. Gives me some champagne vibes, too.

Honestly, this is the ultimate perfume to have if you love the classy/chanel DNA, without loving the vintage chanel n°5. Way more wearable.

It’s not their absolute best, but I enjoy what they’ve done with this Gabrielle series so far, and Essence in particular.

The citruses are more prominent here than in the original. Somehow also more "sparkling." Excellent performance.
