Another Gem about to Go
Hurry up, if you want to have Noble Vetiver! It is not listed any longer at the Chopard site, but you still might find some of it on the net for a snippet price.

Chopard's Noble Vetiver is a little mainstream gem. However, only perfume users with some experience might be able to handle it correctly.

Like so many other mainstream gent's colognes, Noble Vetiver is sharp and bitter on skin. So, sniffing it directly on the hand where you sprayed it is not a good idea. The usual way of testing a perfume at the shop will very likely make people put it back on the shelf. Assumed, mainstream fragrances are aimed at the less frequent and less experiences customers - I wonder how this kind of colognes sell at all.

The fragrance of Noble Vetiver establishes itself in a distance of 10 inches and more. It has some sillage, and it only works out in its sillage.

Noble Vetiver is not a classic Vetiver, in spite of its name. Vetiver is detectable as one note among others. It colours this woody fragrance with a dark green shade but it works from behind. The main character of Noble Vetiver, however, is woody-aromatic.

The top note is a surprise. The citruses used here are aromatic in a very special way. I feel reminded at the taste and scent of Pepsi and Coke! Such an accord is very rare, both in niche and mainstream perfumery. The Atlas Cedar set "Alla corte del Re" by Nobile 1942 comes to my mind, with its beautiful colognes "Cola" and "Robinson". Having Mark Buxton listed as a perfumer, I have to think about "Wood and Absinth" from his own collection. Both fragrances seem to share the same base structure: Two woody fragrances, with discreet vetiver notes providing an elegant, distached and indeed noble touch plus a cola style aromatic accord defining the perfume's individuality. Both fragrances share the clary sage in the heart for a very welcome herbaceousness.

Wood and Absinth is niche, Noble Vetiver is not. Buxton's own fragrance IMHO additionally introduces an oriental touch that is left out in Noble Vetiver. In doing so, Noble Vetiver is the more accessible fragrance (if you know how to) as it is closer to the clichée of a typical man's cologne.

One thing I find hard to describe is a certain physical touch especially in the heart of Noble Vetiver. It is in relation to the cola impression, and it provides something like a near presence of a man's body. I like that, it is sexy!

Listed base notes of Barenia leather and tobacco arouse expectations that are maybe not quite met. For me, this is one of the usual woody-ambery mainsteam bases, but brilliantly refined by vetiver and the aromatic vibes that keep Noble Vetiver in a firm grip for a long time.

Noble Vetiver deserves to be remembered. Blind buy recommended!

27 well-spent euros!
Buying a fragrance that costs under 30EUR for 100(!)ml usually goes against my instincts.
It can't be any good.
It must smell cheap.
You have fragrances for 350EUR/100ml.
No, this one is nothing.
Or is it?
Shall we take the risk?

Oh yes. It's worth the risk; you can't go wrong for the money.
And I didn't. Man, this fragrance is good. After all these years, I have truly arrived in fragrance spheres where probably 99% of the population definitely does not roam.
Noble Vetiver smells sexy. Yes, really sexy. In the opening, it's very peppery; the exact notes can't really be defined, and high-quality vetiver definitely smells different. We don't need to discuss the quality. This fragrance has as much to do with real vetiver as Cher does with naturalness. The theme of vetiver has definitely been better executed in other fragrances.
Apicius mentioned below that you shouldn't smell the fragrance too "closely," but should keep some distance. That's definitely true; when smelled too closely, it can be quite scratchy, very chemical, and biting.
I still haven't figured out exactly why I find it sexy. That hint, when my husband applies it and walks by me... that's just irresistible.
Although it has been discontinued, you can still find it here and there.
Especially regarding quality:
The bottle can definitely compete in a different price league. Real stainless steel or brushed aluminum has been used here, really well done.
I’ll go ahead and give a recommendation.

Gray Mouse in a Suit
All my sniffer-, secret tip-, vetiver- & set senses went off at once... but if you can get a sample, you don't always have to risk/enjoy the thrill of a blind buy. And it was good, because Noble Vetiver is certainly not one of those fragrances that will make you a fortune in a few years with bought-up leftovers, it's not a new Casran, it's not a special vetiver scent and would have mercilessly faded into the background in my large collection.

It's quite a gray mouse, there's no other way to describe it. Synthetic, but chic. Vetiver, but extremely gray. An all-rounder, but with little recognizability. For the usual office and the everyday man in a gray suit, it is definitely wearable, discreet, factual, decent & stylish. But for me, it’s not sexy at all - even if understatement can certainly have something mysterious & beautiful and is fortunately making a comeback, I perceive Noble Vetiver more as a swimmer than a trendsetter. It is also not of high quality, quickly revealing its price. But if you like very shallow wood & skin scents, feel free to give it a try. Just don’t expect too much, especially not too much vetiver. More creamy woods, a bit of tobacco, and a kind of Comme des Garcons feeling on sleeping pills.

Bottle: promises more than it contains. It’s a piece of jewelry.
Sillage: not even average - very, very quiet.
Longevity: with 4 hours, you can almost consider yourself lucky.

Conclusion: a mix of Encre Noir, Grey Vetiver & a gray, ultra-light non-entity - and that sounds even better than reality. If you like it :/

Bicolor Vetiver
The cool bicolor metal cap startled me, but it fits perfectly with the noble classic and very masculine scent. (Chopard is slightly grayed and will turn 150 years old)
The smoky Guajak vetiver note is supported by a hint of grapefruit peel and fine spiced cigar tobacco. A light scent of sandalwood and leathery cedarwood, since it fits better, let's simply call the wood note mahogany...
Overall, it's just a vetiver as one would imagine: elegant and clear without any frills (except for the cap)...
The ideal scent for a vintage car ride at the Mille Miglia with Jacky Ickx...

Glamourkraut
...now I quickly bought up the remaining stock at the internet perfume shop with the "i"...
.. I still had a little bit of this fragrance left in the 50ml version lying around...and I stumbled/sniffed upon it again recently. :-)
I came to this because my sweetheart and I were recently discussing which fragrances we used back in our twenties...I mentioned RomeoGigli, Tsar & TiffanyForMen...He listed Halston Z-14, Kenzo & Guerlain's Vetiver. The conversation then continued about the unspeakable modern reformulations of the classics & the currently mass-appealing fragrance law of the 1Million faction.
We then got stuck on Vetiver by Guerlain...and I remember that I really didn't like those herbal-green fragrances back then...only my TSAR was sacred to me... ^^
I had once bought Noble Vetiver cheaply some time ago...and was now becoming a "fan" of the Vetiver scent. Hence the last "shopping spree"! ^^

Noble Vetiver by Chopard is, as my "hero" Apicius beautifully put it again, not for quick sniffing on the side...no...one should really take a little time with it.
The scent doesn't overwhelm you...so it's not a "sillage" monster (as the experts here like to write)...you can confidently apply it generously...and then jump into your clothes.
The true experience of this Vetiver only unfolds when the skin chemistry connects with it and fine aromas rise from the collar of your shirt.
Instead of the initial sharpness, it is a brilliant mix of green, woody notes that do not come across as cheap and express understatement.
Thanks to age, one (meaning me) no longer has to constantly show off...and also doesn't want to knock everyone over with fragrance like a party animal.
This scent is recommended for all those who have a fine nose...and prefer an aroma that caresses rather than overwhelms. It is always a pleasant surprise when you only notice the scent of the other person once you have passed through the "private zone". ^^ Better to perceive the scent of another through a gentle breeze than to smell it from 5 km away... *laugh*
And since this "Glamour-Kraut" also comes in a weighty, elegant bottle, this whole affair is even more enjoyable!
A real eye-catcher/scent-catcher for adults.

Excellent vetiver option and especially "affordable" scent. Last but not least: the Rolex of bottles - genius in hand!

Moderately herbal vetiver with appealing longevity on my skin. Not bad at all, this stuff!

This is a mid-range wood vetiver. Less tobacco, more leather. Not noble, but very poor in terms of longevity and sillage.

Warm and spicy, but unfortunately with low sillage. A classic fragrance. It's a shame it's no longer available and the prices are astronomical...

Peppery mist hovers over delicate green, balanced with fiery woody earth and inky tobacco leather. Light, ethereal, autumnal!!
