Lemons and Weddings
Yes, here I am again. I’ve been writing less lately because there’s a wedding happening soon, and everything is in chaos here. No, no, I’m not getting married… who would marry me, I don’t even have a girlfriend. No,… but my brother just had to get married in the middle of summer, making the preparations all the more stressful in the heat and humidity. Plus, we are Turks. Yes… it’s not like a German wedding, no, here the house is cleaned EVERY DAY for 4 months beforehand, and everyone goes crazy over every little detail. Financially, it’s also often unnecessarily exaggerated; for example, you don’t need to spend over 1000 euros on alcohol for about 90-100 people (only about half of whom drink)… With a whiskey-cola mix, for instance, no one, uh… guest will be able to taste the difference between Jim Beam and something cheaper. You don’t have to spend 200 euros per bottle of wine or sparkling wine. Something simpler is perfectly sufficient; we’re not talking about the absolute cheapest, but it doesn’t have to be ridiculously expensive either. Luckily, I can take care of the alcohol to some extent, so I’ll choose a good mix of beer, wine, sparkling wine, and whiskey, but by God, I swear, if they annoy me again, I’ll only get the cheapest Hugo sparkling wine (with pear flavor, ha!), that I can find, mu ha ha ha!
Also, no idiot will complain about three ridiculous water spots on the sink faucet. We have guests here for two weeks… everything gets used more often, so it’s clear that there will be water spots everywhere, but no, the important thing is that I have to make sure that I don’t leave any water spots… this logic drives me to white heat!!! Aaaaaargh! I will leave the toilet lid up from now on!!!
Yes, weddings are always expensive, I know that, but I think there’s a difference between reasonable spending and stupid exaggeration for things that most people won’t care about. Am I wrong? Even my brother and his wife save on many things, but in the parents' apartment, everything has to be exaggerated (replacement of garden awnings, carpets, sinks, etc.)… what do you think? Oh, better not tell me… And the same goes for all the cleaning. That’s even worse! Of course, one of the guests, let’s just call him Mr. Mess, will definitely wander down to the basement, move a cabinet, and then shout: “Hey, you’ve overlooked this layer of dust behind the cabinet down here, how rude of you!” Of course!! Oooh, as soon as the other guests arrive, I will open all the windows and let all the pests in!!!
It could also be that I’m so annoyed because everyone here is driving me crazy with their special requests...! :D
Anyway: Once everything is finally over, and all the guests who are staying with us have finally, FINALLY left, I will clean up a bit without overdoing it, while cursing loudly in different volumes, especially if we catch COVID (which I fully expect with all these empty-headed people), I will treat myself to a lot of the leftover alcohol (I bet half of the drinks will be left over!) and then sit back and do what I do best: gaming, tinkering with my cat children's books, and of course testing fragrances more often. Oh yes, since I’m talking about fragrances:
Hello and welcome to my latest fragrance review! :D
Argh!… Today it’s about Citron Fig from the Clean fragrance line “Clean Reserve”. Hm… Citron… at least I have a citrus scent in my hand right now, making the summer or at least today a little more bearable… let’s see!
**The Scent:**
The scent starts with fresh lemon, which comes across almost piercingly citrusy in the first few seconds. But that’s not a problem, after all, it gets better in the next few minutes, and besides, something strongly lemony feels good on hot days. Along with the lemon, you can also smell the fig quite well. A bit of bitter-smelling ginger can also be detected, but I have to admit that I would have missed it if I hadn’t looked at the fragrance list.
A few minutes later, the scent remains citrusy and thus fresh, but now a very delicious-smelling mandarin joins in. This one is neither bitter nor sour nor citrusy, but you can smell more of the sweet fruit flesh, which smells very nice. Furthermore, I smell, as I almost expected from a Clean fragrance, a nice, clean scent note. What I mean is that the scent comes across as simply clean, almost like the scent of fabric softeners or fresh laundry. I think I also occasionally smell a bit of mint, which I find great. Mint or other herbs like basil always pair excellently with citrus scents.
The base, unfortunately, turns out to be rather insignificant. The lovely scents from the top and heart notes fade more and more, so that nothing remains of the beautiful scent. I would say that you should reapply the scent before reaching the base.
**The Sillage and Longevity:**
The sillage is quite weak, as is the case with most Clean fragrances (and generally citrusy and fresh scents as well). That’s always a bit of a shame, but still, the scent feels good when you spray it on a hot day. The longevity is about 3-4 hours, after which hardly anything of the scent remains.
**The Bottle:**
The bottle is rectangular and has a very thick bottom. A white label with the fragrance name and brand is stuck on the front. The cap is made of wood and looks nice. All in all, the bottle is nothing extraordinary, but according to the description, it is made from only sustainable raw materials.
**Conclusion:**
Citron Fig is a nice scent, but I only like the top and heart notes here. The scent becomes significantly less interesting towards the base and “drifts” along, and is also so close to the body that you have to smell it closely to perceive anything at all.
Therefore, you can best use the scent like a cologne, meaning you should reapply it as needed. The lemon scent and especially the wonderful scent of the sweet mandarin are quite pleasant and refreshing on hot days. However, there are fresh scents that still smell nice in the base; still, you can take a look at or sniff this scent.
Eww,… the wedding is getting closer… oh I can hardly wait to dance at the wedding! But not because it’s a celebration, no, but because that will mean that everything will be as good as over once the day ends. That means I will dance with joy that everyone will leave after the wedding! Yaaa! :DD
Well then, have a nice evening everyone… I have a rather stressful week ahead of me… ugh!

It's such a joy to set everything up nicely and stay connected with family - and when the daycare is on strike, there's always someone who can watch the kids if you have to work. When someone is sick, another person goes shopping. And the grandparents aren't stuck in separate retirement homes feeling lonely; they're right next door in the little house and can help take care of the grandkids. They can complain about a lot of things, and that's fair... because the world could definitely use some improvement. Of course, uncles are also enthusiastic babysitters, and that might be in store for you too ;-)
