Liquid Sunshine Or Fading Memory?

I have known this scent basically as long as I have collected fragrances, and it was one of those popular, much-talked-about cheapie scents you would constantly see people raving about for its price. The day I finally tested this little community star came a couple of weeks ago, before I borrowed this bottle for a review.

And while I’m not trying to say that my opinion is always correct and that most other people are wrong, specific facts cannot be overlooked.

First, the overall composition is so artificial that even its price cannot be justified unless you can find it for around $20.00, which you rarely can even at discounters, and secondly, it leans more toward the feminine side with the overload of florals in its heart notes.

TOP NOTES
Lime, Lemon, and mandarin orange dominate the opening, along with the marine accord, which is detectable from the start. The best and the only part of this composition that's actually good.

HEART NOTES
On my skin, marine notes become more noticeable, and since the fragrance was released in the 20th century, they are more of an airy, “ozone” breeze—clean air after a rainstorm. The florals listed (freesia, rose, jasmine, Lily of the Valley) are quite powerful by the time the heart arrives and do lean the scent more toward the feminine side, yet they do provide a clean, “white t-shirt” texture.

BASE NOTES
The dry down is where the fragrance shows its age—and its main weakness. The base is very subtle. I get a light, pencil-shaving Cedar and a whisper of white Musk. Unfortunately, across all of these listed woods, the florals keep dominating, and, due to the lack of any sort of progression beyond becoming a skin scent in about 45 minutes of application, it quietly fades away.

OVERALL
Let’s not fool ourselves, and call it anything more than it is. Somewhat affordable, feminine-smelling summer fragrance that would probably need a decent three applications throughout the day.
