1991 in the neighbouring village
On my morning runs I pass the stadium in the neighbouring town now and then. The sports hall. Some more ambitious bike rides even grant me a view of the school high up on the mountain. But all those memories are much more present today.
I spray Moonlight Waltz by Création Lamis. Neither fragrance nor brand are familiar to me. Nor Chance by Chanel, which it is supposed to resemble. I'm immediately outside the gym when I inhale this fruity-floral, somewhat herbaceous-green, and very feminine scent. Yes, it has a hint of the eighties and early nineties. It was D., who was new to our school and already a bit older than the other girls, who brought such a scent. It was a deodorant by Limara, which to my nose also brought parallels to Oilily Flowers (Classic at the time) as well as Iceberg EdT, which my mother had been wearing at the time. But this fragrance most clearly resembles her intensely scented deodorant spray, which all the girls loved to put on after sports. At least, if I remember correctly.
I myself was not interested in fragrances at that time and was one of the girls who did not borrow their deodorant. In 1991 I was just 13 and you could not lure me with perfume behind the stove. Rather with horses or the pursuit of funny jokes. I was a child with body and soul. The fact that I can remember it in such detail, however, shows me that I was very much interested in the fragrance, but perhaps I couldn't really recognize it at the time? Anyway.
With a little Google research, I found the deodorant from D., who, by the way, I sometimes meet at the gym these days. Caribian Flair was the name of it. By a spell check the manufacturer had probably not run the name (with many song lyrics at the time I wondered much, but let's leave it *grin*). The name suggests tropical, which we definitely have with pineapple, lemon and vanilla. I smell more than that with this scent though. It has an herbaceous component in addition to all its sweetness, and it suits it well. I'm guessing vetiver, oakmoss or something similar. I find all of those in the Oilily and the Iceberg as well. A fragrance pyramid of the Limara is unfortunately nowhere, so no comparison is possible here, but there I trust times the Schnäbelchen.
If anyone misses it, maybe this Moonlight Waltz would be an alternative? There's not (more) everywhere, seems to be discontinued, but he does not cost much.
13 I would like to be today no longer necessarily, but I'm always gobsmacked, what I have stored in my fragrance memory so everything. Thanks to HappySunny for the testing opportunity.
