A Harmonious Mingling of Wood and Florals in a Resinous Base
Creed ACQUA FIORENTINA opens with a burst of aromatic lemony freshness which led me to believe that this was either unisex or perhaps even a masculine frag. Shortly thereafter, the citrusy quality subsides, making way for a resinous floral-woody drydown which leans more toward the feminine side. I am finding this androgynous quality more often than not in my travels through CREED...
I, like some other reviewers, find a family resemblance between ACQUA FIORENTINA and D&G LIGHT BLUE, but the Creed composition has a great deal more complexity and depth, and significantly better staying power. I also love the moist greenness in ACQUA FIORENTINA, which seems similar to the texture of watercress or clover.
By chance I chose an unexpectably toasty (87F) day in Boston to test this fragrance, and I found that the resinous quality may make AF better suited to slightly cooler temperatures. Nonetheless, I very much like this fragrance, which is appealing particularly in the drydown, as the wood, the floral and the resin notes mingle together most harmoniously.
