The Question of Price
Cuba is admittedly not the brand I associate with decent fragrances.
Decent, in the sense of good quality and acceptable performance.
I received this scent as a so-called blind test, to compare it to the similarly scented Royal Oud.
The Creed is certainly known to many, of course not exactly positioned in the low price segment. If you like Royal Oud but don't want to spend that much money, then you can confidently reach for this Cuba. They are quite similar, however, Cuba's version is significantly smoother, in my opinion. It doesn't have too many highlights or jumps, but at barely €10 for a 100ml bottle, this is not particularly demanded. To be honest, I am quite surprised by how good it smells. Perfect for everyday work. Fresh lemon, spread over warm spices that have a slightly sour note. Additionally, a fine scent of fruits, a hint of incense on the side, and a very pleasant wood scent round out the perfume.
Longevity and sillage are not exactly outstanding, but you really can't be too stingy, as you can probably repurchase it more often than some Creeds. It's all just a matter of price. Or is it not? It depends on how you look at it. Someone who loves Creed will always insist on it and, of course, praise it to the skies, while labeling this scent as inferior. All of that is legitimate. But if you simply want a solid fragrance for a tenner and still want to smell good, then you can confidently go for this one.
The bottle reminds me of Montale. Cuba would not be the only brand that imitates such bottles. Yaemina also has bottles that look just like Montales from a distance. Taste is, as we know, subjective, but the bottle is not exactly a fine thing, nor is it with Montale.
Nevertheless: A coherent scent for the male world, who do not always want to stand out too much, but simply want to enjoy a completely normal fresh, spicy, woody fragrance.
