Writer draws attention

Writer had to be tested as an alternative to Sauvage Eau de Toilette, the latter I only knew from a sample, while I acquired the Writer directly as a bottle due to the press.

Upon application, Writer feels like a wake-up call, a splash of cold water on the face - fresh and invigorating. It starts bright, clear, and spicy. In contrast to Sauvage, it feels wetter, almost damp upon application.
Once this initial impression fades, the structure reminiscent of Sauvage reveals itself. The spiciness is present without being overwhelming, the freshness is penetrating but not aggressive.
In the drydown, a pleasantly clean-woody veil with a hint of sweetness settles on the skin.

The sillage is moderate, and the longevity impresses with over 7 hours. The bottle feels high-quality and is at least somewhat reminiscent of the original Sauvage bottle.

I find Writer to be a safe choice that you can't go wrong with. It is modern and wearable, even though the fragrance's popularity is certainly immense and it has a high recognition factor. But not everything that is common is bad.

All in all, Writer is a great dupe of Sauvage Eau de Toilette with an excellent price-performance ratio for those who can forgo the original.

I had it too, and it's well-crafted. But this scent DNA is so widespread in every fitting room, tram, and government building that the fragrance is unbearable for me.
This is a scent direction for which the term "old-fashioned" was invented, even more so than for the wonderful vintage classics that often unfairly struggle with this label.

Yeah, Sauvage was just trendy, widely used, and since it was so popular, it makes sense that this more affordable dupe came along too.
