A original addition to Christian DIOR's private collection
I had today the ability to be one of the first to smell the new Dior Cuir Saddle.
In my opinion, this new fragrance is an original addition to the private collection. It opens up with a soft suede-ish smell covered by a powdery addition, while being slightly smokey. However, after that the heart opens up, the smokey aspect becomes prominent. What is strange is, that it starts smelling like a smoker. I don't find this very pleasent to smell. Gladly, it isn't too breathtaking. After a couple hours, it finaly evolves towards a beautiful wood base, covered by some ambers and some white flowers.
Performance-wise, it seems to be very radiant on my skin leaving a strong sillage for about 2-3 hours. After 5 hours it slowly dials down and becomes skin scent at the 7-8 hour mark. (tested with 2 sprays).
I think that this is a very nice addition. I don't have any similar fragrance in mind that could have some similarities with this one. I still think that this fragrance should have been more floral such as with the addition of rose or violet (even if it wasn't it's main objective). The "smoker" aspect is also disappointing.
Consider testing this one on skin before buying.
