Eau Duelle
This fragrance opens with a delicate, almost edible vanilla accord. Simply delicious, the accord reminds me of a vanilla-lemon custard, or a vanilla-lemon cake. This gourmand impression is soon shattered by the appearance of juniper and elemi resin which I see as pepper and incense. The scent remains sweet and vanilla-dominated, but I'd place it now in the same category as the non-gourmand Vanille Insensee by Atelier Cologne. This Dyptique, however, has more presence and sparkle. The fragrance sheds most of its sugary and citrusy facets as it develops - the emphasis is now more on the vanilla, resin and smoky tea notes. The dry down can be described as a flat vanilla framed by a sheer veil of smoke.

The Case for Quiet Fragrances
I’ve never been a person to douse myself in fragrance. Maybe in high school. But I’ve always been appreciative of a relatively intimate scent bubble. My rule of thumb is: Don’t fill the room but be noticed.

Eau Duelle EDT has pretty poor sillage. But it’s really part of what makes this shine as a fragrance. It’s a green, bright vanilla. The vanilla is specifically so similar to a pure vanilla extract. No sugar, all vanilla. The pepper and juniper are there but sit behind the prominent vanilla. Being a EDT lets these bright notes burst.

It’s fun to layer and play with Eau Duelle EDT. L’Eau Papier is an amazing base for it. It dances with the steamed rice/ sesame notes and creates a signature scent worthy fragrance. Orpheon as well. It creates an incense-y vanilla with a woodier base.

Eau Duelle EDT isn’t trying to be loud, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s proof that a fragrance doesn’t need to be beast mode to be beautiful. The way its pure, unsweetened vanilla hums close to the skin makes it feel effortless—almost like a secret.

Eau Duelle
For a long time, I never quite understood what a “green vanilla” scent was. Is it referring to a vanilla pod that’s unripe and picked early? Or is it referring to vanilla blended with green notes like leaves and herbs? If you have a definitive answer, DM me lol.

Either way, I feel Eau Duelle is the first vanilla I’ve encountered that feels like a "green vanilla". Unlike the usual cozy holiday vanillas that are warm and gourmand, this is vanilla by day. It’s vanilla on a sunny weekend with no plans. Vanilla wearing a cotton shirt with a top button undone. It’s airy, light, and well, green I suppose. I tried both the EDP and EDT on different hands for a side-by-side comparison, and they both have this easy-breezy feel. I don’t think either version of Eau Duelle is cozy and wintery.

While I’m glad to experience this green vanilla and try something new… it’s not really my thing. I guess the vanilla-coziness association is too strong and I keep wanting/expecting Eau Duelle to be deeper and more ambery (which it isn’t meant to be). For vanilla fans though, I can see it being a refreshing take on a beloved note.

Link's SOTD
This is what Link puts on before meeting up with Zelda for an evening walk around Hyrule Castle grounds. Light woody fairytale like scent. Love the piney juniper opening with the light incense and vanilla dusted wood chips.

I also own G Water and Eau Duelle EDT lasts longer, has more sillage, wears lighter YET has just as much, if not more depth. Balsamic touches and light spices dance about underneath this soft cloud of vanilla. Wonderful understated creation by the house of Diptyque.

Vanilla Overload
I have a sample of this and wow! - it's vanilla overload. There's nothing muted about it from the start.

Imagine a very strong, creamy vanilla ice cream and you have Eau Duelle.

The vanillic scent of books covered in dust. Light but cozy.

Very close to the EdP version but a bit more spice and less vanilla here; a bit lighter, more suitable for warmer weather.

On one sniff it's a basic vanilla. On the other it has some herbal aspects which differentiate it from others. I'll have to try it more.

reminds me of paper, specifically books. It made me feel like I’m in a library. A pleasant smelling library due to the subtle vanilla

A very dry and unintrusive vanilla. Reminds me of preparing vanilla for baking, when it's pure and used as a spice and not mixed with sugar.

Not too sweet. Nice and subtle. Reminds me a bit of Angelique Noire. Easy to wear to work.

Green & vanilla with a strong note of spice that goes straight up my nose. Dry, but not overwhelmingly so - well-balanced.
