A Fantastic Girlfriend Scent
BY Woman is a warm, aldehyde-creamy, musky, strongly feminine scent. If you sweat at all, it becomes a vanilla-sweat thing that doesn’t smell bad on a woman, but it’s kinda skanky. That phase is the scent of almost-forgotten girlfriends after makeout sessions.
By six hours it’s down to a skin scent, a cedary musk. Then it returns with a spiciness in addition to the cedary musk that would smell divine on a woman. When it ends for real (right around eight hours) it becomes creamy-fruity-musky, which results in a warm, magnetic, feminine "come and cuddle me, you big oaf" vibe. Comparisons to Country Chic aren't far off, although BY Woman is subtler and softer.
I know they don’t make this stuff anymore, but I can see why it had its fans. It has a little bit of an attitude, and it might be “masculine-leaning”, but make no mistake: this is a woman’s fragrance. However, this is the kind of fragrance I’d like to smell on a woman. It’s not plain florals or sugary sweetness; it’s interesting, complex, and a little bit mysterious, all without screaming sex (aside from that little bit at the beginning). I think it might be fantastic scent for a girlfriend or a wife; it appeals in many ways. If you can find it, buy this for the woman in your life.
