sweet, floral, perfect for everyday

i just tested this in store today and fell in love! i really liked D&G's Devotion, so i wanted to test this one out. it's nothing like the original, other than its great longevity and addicting sweetness. the words i'd use to describe this would be feminine, bright and comforting. i usually don't gravitate towards more "generic" perfumes like what others would categorize this as, but i find that in its relative simpleness it mixes classy with modern. this is the type of scent i'd wear every day, since it's perfect for a multitude of occasions and environments, leaving a lasting impression without being too offensive.
will probably update when i snag a bottle of this, but it's earned a spot on my wishlist!

This surprised me

I usually don't lean toward gourmand fragrances as they tend to dry down sickly sweet on me but the woman at the shop I was Christmas shopping at was an excellent salesperson so I couldn't help myself.

At first spray, my inital thought was watermelon. Immediately it took me back to my childhood - sucking on sour watermelon candies while sat on the edge of a sun soaked sidewalk. There is no watermelon accord in this, but the mix of pear blossom, blackcurrant and vanilla gives this a melon/fruity sweet combination that is so pleasant.

My partner was with me and he loved it, but was surprised I purchased it because it's nothing like I've ever worn - I'm usually a brooding, sarcastic, dark feminine-leaning personality and my scent profiles match this.

The dry down is strong with blackcurrent and vanilla. I've seen some reviews that state it is mainly a "vanilla" scent upon dry down. They're not wrong but I find the fruity florals stay true in this perfume for 5+ with my skin chemistry.

I recommend this scent for someone who wants a fun, feminine, flirty, fragrance that isn't fussy or too complex.

fancy shampoo

i shockingly really like this - or maybe not shockingly, since i really like the og. this flanker is fresher-fruitier, but still with that sweet-gourmand hook. it's very sweet but not cloying, which i always appreciate. it has a fruity candy vibe, backed with just enough vanilla to project and last. it's a little bit like watermelon candy/soda, a little bit like a feminine shampoo. honestly very indulgent and kind of basic but never gets to be "too much" - even for someone who doesn't always love sweetness.

Pear Yogurt

Wow, a beautiful simple scent that smells like pear yogurt with a good dose of vanilla. A lovely everyday fragrance that is not intrusive, not overpowering but special. It just lifts your spirits.
Later, there’s a big bouquet of peonies added, making it a perfect spring scent. It has nothing to do with the well-known Dolce & Gabbana Devotion or Devotion Intense.

Winter fragrance that reminds of spring

My Devotion came as an unsolicited but very welcome sample with a purchase from the Souk at Parfumo. A fragrance I probably wouldn't have chosen for myself - all the more delightful was the surprise.

I am rather skeptical about sweet perfumes, but the opening with juicy pear feels pleasantly light and not artificial. The blackcurrant hardly comes through for me. Over time, the fragrance develops into a soft, creamy vanilla, accompanied by a gentle peony scent.

The balance between vanilla and floral notes is particularly well achieved here: The vanilla is neither overly sweet, nor do the flowers ever become overpowering. Everything remains balanced, calm, and harmonious.

I can easily imagine wearing this fragrance more often in winter - fitting for cold days, while still reminding me of the upcoming spring.

The only thing I don't like at all is the bottle - a gaudy heart on cheap-looking plastic. But I suppose you can't have it all.
