WOW.
It is rare when a highly anticipated addition or flanker meets and even exceeds expectations. Even more so when it is a follow-up to one of the fragrance world darlings.

D&G have become the latest in a long line of houses to try, and ultimately fail, in achieving this objective.

This is an utter disappointment. Lacking the core of what was expected, in the form of 'The One', but better. We get a spin on Grand Soir, blended with some ambery sythetics. And, a price tag near Niche levels at retail. I mean, why not? Everyone else i doing the same thing? They want their piece of the pie! Big name, toss together some ingredients real quick, call it a parfum, and charge $200 for it. I think we have been hearing a lot of this lately...

'But we should be happy with it'! Why? It is a let down. NOTHING like The One. Stop it. If you have smelled anything at Macy's, you've smelled this already. Happy with it? Then buy it. But don't come to these reviews raving about it. Like BDC L'exclusif before it, a dud. D&G just want their piece of the market share other companies are milking from the masses.

Ultimately I vote with my wallet. And I vote 'No' to The One 2026.

So Sexy
EDP smells slightly better, maybe it’s the nostalgia. This one smells more modern. Both are great! But Parfum has a bit better performance. It shares the similar DNA although I wish it was a little more similar to EDP. Honestly it will come down to your personal preference if you are deciding between the two. You don’t need both, I would just choose one or the other.

The One
The legend is back! And they have done it really well, I can say that right away.

The meaty Torocco orange is still present in the top note, but no longer as a solo, as it was in the Eau de Parfum. On my skin, it lasts quite a while - in the new perfume, it is rather embedded in a spicy interplay with pepper and something basil-like.

You get to the heart more quickly and directly - nutmeg and a bit of lavender are the protagonists here. It almost seems to me as if a bit of the old Armani Code Profumo DNA has flowed in.

It feels less ambroxan-heavy than its predecessor - softer, fuller, rounder. As if it has actually matured over the 10 years, becoming older and a bit wiser.

What I find nice at this point is that you can recognize it without having turned it into a new brute formula aka vanilla addition or a saffron bomb. A bit of labdanum - which I sometimes have more trouble with - and not too much amber-like notes - lovely!

It keeps its heart in the right place for quite a long time. In the ambered base, you can expect tonka and a hint of leather, along with a cistus happy ending. Soft and warm.

In the long run, I still prefer the EdP from 2015.

Here's to another 10 years!

OG-DNA meets warm "Amber"
To be honest, I was never a fan of the EDP, the performance was too weak for me and the DNA overall too unremarkable.
Nevertheless, I was curious about the perfume.

I actually like the perfume better.
Even though it’s not 100% my DNA, it feels more interesting and successful.
The orange, which doesn’t seem entirely authentic like in the predecessor, can also be found here in the opening along with the pepper.
The opening is noticeably warmer and heavier than that of the EDP.

Soon after, labdanum and tobacco join in.
Interestingly, this combination smells strongly of amber to me; perhaps it is included but simply not listed in the notes.
The scent can best be described as a mix of Grand Soir Eau de Parfum and the DNA of the EDP, an amber-spiced fragrance with a fine orange note.

It is a safe scent for winter and quite pleasing, but it remains noticeably in the designer range; I miss a real unique selling point here a bit.

The performance surpasses its predecessor.
You get a solid average performance, not really strong, but also not weak.
Feel free to overspray to stand out.
This way, you won’t annoy anyone and will have a nice scent bubble around you.

In my opinion, it’s not a must-have.
But if I had to choose between the EDP and the perfume, I would definitely reach for the perfume.
For lovers of fresher, lighter scents, however, the EDP remains the better choice.

Meh...
I am a fan of "The One for Men (Eau de Parfum) | Dolce & Gabbana." The One is definitely one of my favorite fragrances of all time. Yes, poor sillage but it stays close to the skin and just smells good. I find it combines very well on one hand the spiciness and tobacco scent and on the other hand a light airy freshness from the orange and basil and ginger. It was a perfect one-time mix.

Now that is halfway gone. The scent has noticeably become "heavier." More sweetness, more amber, warm, heavy. In the middle phase, I even got a kind of gasoline note. As if they mixed The One for Men Eau de Parfum with Grand Soir Eau de Parfum or "Outlands | Amouage." There is no drastic difference compared to the OG, but there is a difference and I wonder why. Now The One has less character for me. Either you go for Grand Soir or The One edp. Everything in between is rather everything and nothing.

Starts of spicy and exciting, but dries down to something very generic. If you like The One you'll enjoy this. Worth the price? Nah.

The OG's DNA is still there but with amped up amber. Not the best sillage, but that's what these fragrances are known for anyway. Date scent

The One wit dry, resinous notes. Overall, it's slightly darker, very subtly smoky, but still similar to the Eau de Parfum. Longevity is okay

Still uncertain about this fragrance. It definitely is a mix of Grand Soir and the one edp. It lasts quite some time too but has no projection whatsoe

The One EDP takes its original DNA, then elegantly refines it and makes it long-lasting with amber/wood. Mature, masculine, sexy.

The best "The One" ever! Everything is nicer than the OG. Great tobacco. But where's the sillage? It doesn't project at all for me. Such a shame!

That's exactly how it should be done! The original DNA of the EDP has been taken and simply improved in every area. The longevity is top-notch now too!
