Typical DNA with an oriental twist

The Luminous Night is a really beautiful fragrance.
The One is already simply beautiful and also a classic.
The Luminous Night uses the typical DNA and adds an oriental touch.

There is even a hint of freshness at the beginning.
The bergamot, some basil, but also the sage play a role here.
The sage is even more present and noticeable over time. I like that.

Then this great date sweetness that simply gives the fragrance something special.
The fragrance is still somehow quite synthetic, but despite that it just smells good. You really have to say that.

If you pull the VR goggles off the head of a resident of the FAANG-EU in 200 years and let him sniff the scent of The One for Men Eau de Parfum, he will still say: "Yes, it smells great!".

This timeless DNA is artfully combined with delicious oriental aromas in The One Luminous Night. The oriental notes present themselves as a harmonious interplay of sweetness, spice, mystery and seduction. The warm nuances of dates blend elegantly with the creaminess of sandalwood, while smoky accents of incense lend the fragrance a mysterious depth.

You can really close your eyes and imagine sitting under a sea of stars in a camp in the Sahara. Sweet dates are ready to be eaten, the incense is smouldering and ornate furniture and decorations made of fine wood invite you to linger.

I also think the bottle is beautiful. I love the combination of dark blue and gold (coincidentally also the colors of the FAANG-EU flag).

Sweetness utopia

Let me start this review by listing the three "-est" of this fragrance:
This is the nicest looking bottle from my collection.
This is the longest lasting fragrance from my collection.
This is the sweetest smelling fragrance from my collection.

Now about the longevity, here are the facts. I sprayed this three times, two on my neck, one on my wrist, at 7 am. Notwithstanding the 1 degree celsius outside temperature, at 8 pm tonight this could still be smelled on me and I don't mean sticking my nose to my skin. By moving while seated, I could catch whiffs of it and when closing in my nose 10 cm away from my wrist, I could sense it still radiating off my skin. Impressive.

Regarding the smell, the opening is certainly not something to die for, but it is not nose turning either. The drydown is what this fragrance is all about. I personally cannot detect a resemblance to "The one" DNA, which can be undoubtedly sensed in the The One Royal Night. This does have similarities to The One Royal Night but in which regards the oriental elements found in that one, not in the dna that one shares with The One EDP.
Without knowing what I was smelling, I would have guessed that this is one of the Stronger With You flankers as it has the same overwhelming sweetness. Not SWY Only though, that's the one I own precisely because of the toned down sweetness. I would say from this point that the comparisons with SWY Oud are fair.

The closest thing I can compare it to from my collection is Code Absolu. Occasion wise I would say they are a complete match. Performance wise, this one makes Code Absolu feel like a summer cologne. Smell wise, this is even sweeter than that which was already the sweetest thing from my collection and which I thought was the most amount of sweetness I could tolerate. I still prefer the sweetness in Code Absolu because of the suede note which balances it out. It took me about a month to get acquainted with that sweetness in Code Absolu and to feel comfortable wearing it. Maybe in time I will become acquainted with this sweetness too, but for now I believe those 100 ml of The One Luminous Night will last me for about a decade. Two sprays, considering the performance and amount of sweetness, would be my recommended dose for this drug.

Better than expected

Of course, due to the fact that it´s almost mission impossible to find a bottle, a broader range of experiences is not possible.

I got my hands on this awesome scent twice already and I was twice very impressed by how this smells and evolves. The backbone is of course Side Effect from Initio, with the sweet - oriental character, slightly feminine (Initio).

This D&G has a very weird story, because Shiseido came up with it during their license and it was exclusive to the oriental market, then to duty-frees and then so exclusive that it was nowehere to be found.

In all honesty, it does smell special, you are embraced by the awesome frankincense and amber, but I do not see the point to get too crazy in finding a bottle, nor paying 200€ + to some greed sellers on eBay or so.

All in all, a very good scent from D&G, if not even the best so far .. but let´s see if the new beauty division from Milan will continue it, improve it or just discontinue it.

Middle east in bottle

discovered this year through a sample, I already had the one royal night and mysterious night.

what a great discovery, finally I find a nugget among the hundred samples tested this year.

it is a sweet and smoky oriental, I have not found an equivalent in my collection nor can I remember a perfume that looks like it, maybe the atlas garden ysl but in a more masculine version.

bewitching and warming, we are clearly on a perfume applied in winter or at the end of autumn. in terms of price it is not excessive and difficult to find a must have
