MGO at its best
Today once again a serious commentary on a MGO fragrance, which has done it to me very much. But before I would like to discuss two points: first, I feel the MGO releases as relatively inflationary. A lot of things are released but: I can understand it. You get certain raw materials and they have to be processed and then you spread that over many different fragrances with small batches. That's probably more profitable than a few fragrances with large batches. Of course, that also leads to a certain signature, an MGO DNA. Normally I don't appreciate MGO DNA much, find it slightly scratchy. That is not the case here. I would also like to point out that MGO offers a great customer service and responds to individual wishes and requests. So everything different here at No. 9? Off to the fragrance!
No. 9 seems very floral and yet it still excites me. The opening is created by refreshing, tart floral notes. After that, the jasmine dominates. Lovely, fruity, subtly honey-scented it goes here, an additional herbal note provides a kind of refreshing Ricola effect.
Certainly, the green incense from Oman also works here. Generally, I favor Omani frankincense because of its intensity. The green now distinguish properties such as citrus nuances, but it also provides the freshness in the fragrance, acts like menthol. Combined with the jasmine, you can probably talk about a wonderful fragrance experience.
The other ingredients act more as extras. Leather may serve as a primer, the tobacco one perceives as a dry tart facet somewhere in the back of the fragrance. Saffron I can hardly notice here but I would also find here as disturbing. Perhaps it is rather that the saffron restrains the jasmine and the rose. Which - set the case - is desirable, because I usually dislike the floral protagonists. By the way, Persian saffron...more than 90% of the world's saffron production is grown in Iran. Anyway, No. 9 becomes gen end creamy, very slightly resinous.
Ultimately, No. 9 is a wonderful creation; although not wearable for me but a wonderful fragrance. The incense and the floral components harmonize wonderfully with each other, everything is very finely woven and: I miss respectively "miss" the scratchy note. Great job and this proves to me that even after 30 tested fragrances of a house still no final judgment should proclaim what concerns the fragrance products. In this respect, I join Pontius Pilate and wash my hands of MGO criticism.
