The lights of the big city
In Frankfurt am Main I lived in the middle of the city - in the middle of the theatre.
My walk to work was delightfully short - and the view from my window delightfully urban.
Vis a vis was an office building of the company Degussa and next to it the carpet house "Eierstock".
When I had time, I liked to look at the bustling busy work in the offices - and the ever-changing window displays of the carpet house.
Each window offered a different scene - and my contemplations were not at all dull.
I particularly enjoyed my impressions when the electric lights came on, then I could observe the office people particularly well - and the window frontage looked like a huge Advent calendar.
Red and homey looked the light advertising of the carpet house with the catchy name to it.
The big city gave me a good feeling, which was heightened when the road construction crew arrived at 0 o'clock, lit up the intersection even more, and did their work until dawn.
These many different sources of light gave me a sense of safety and security.
On a side note, also a smart move by the city of Frankfort - because when the traffic blazed off again, the intersection was passable again.
And that artificial but pleasant brightness is also what Lights by Arden gives me.
It has a certain synthetic quality to it, but it goes well with the fruit, which is also somewhat chemical.
The fruits shine neon-bright - but are quietly dimmed by iris and osmanthus.
Sandal and tonka give the scene a soft twilight.
Patchoulie emphasizes the dreamlike of the night.
I like to wake up in a City that does not sleep.
