Lakmé Iris: Duet of Flowers
Elegant, so clean, luxurious, floral, powdery and wonderful fragrance.

This scent reminds me of the North of Italy or the South of the Alpine Mountains in spring. A lush nature, land that blooms in spring and rivers flowing cold water in spring.

And the scents of fresh flowers that come to my nose with the breeze of the wind: Especially the unique, dominant and different scent of the iris. Violet accompanies the iris too. Musk and jasmine note also affects the smell slightly. Bergamot is only a little effective at opening. But the iris is always dominant and effective: Especially iris and violet give this scent a bright, grayish and peaceful theme.

I think this is the smell of spring times. Do you know the piece 'Lakmé: Duo des Fleurs' composed by Léo Delibes?

That song mentions roses and jasmine. But this perfume doesn't smell of roses. Iris, violet, etc. flowers have a scent.

Whenever I spray this fragrance, 'Delibes: Lakmé - Duo des fleurs' music plays in my mind.

"Doucement glissons de son flot charmant
Suivons le courant fuyant
Dans l’onde frémissante
D’une main nonchalante
Viens, gagnons le bord,
Où la source dort et
L’oiseau, l’oiseau chante.
Sous le dôme épais
Où le blanc jasmin
Viens, descendons ensemble."

This fragrance makes me feel good feelings from opening to the end. Absolutely elegant, pleasant and the smell that evokes a clean soap. It's a genderless smell. As a man, I really like it.

It lasts more than 30 hours on my skin.Suitable for use in spring and autumn.

Wait for the BERGAMOT
This is odd, not really impressed with the first few hours of this on my skin. The notes seem muddled, bland and uninteresting, well, at least to my nose.

After a while though, look out!
Really beautiful BERGAMOT with a nice background of iris.

Definitely makes it a first date type of scent, assuming you spray on a few hours before the dinner or WARM weather event.

High brow without trying too hard.

Classy iris
From the very opening Florentine Iris shows its pleasant, informal, unpretentious yet classy personality: a fresh, crystalline iris note, somehow “icy” and grey, really clean but rich in its own way, laying on a base accord of subtle, dusty musky notes and gently surrounded by other flowers - both sweeter & softer (violet) and more shady and camphoraceous (jasmine) thus enhancing “in stereo” the complex facets of iris, from the brighter/powdery to the darker/earthier. Not much else: surely not a realistic hyper-rooty “lipstick” iris scent, not even that powdery or sweet: just a sharp, cold, fresh, clean and quite “restrained” contemporary iris scent more closer to masculine fragrances like L’Homme de Coeur by Divine, or Prada Infusion d’Homme. Iris is one of the notes I know less, this meaning I can’t judge “how good” this smells in terms of quality: but to me it smells good, and I suppose it’s enough for me. I’ve been lucky enough to receive a bottle of this from a friend and fellow fragrance fan, and I happily wear it quite often – it actually quite grew on me to be honest. Fans of more realistic, earthier, “rawer” and more complex iris scent may find better fragrances (like Iris 39 by Le Labo for instance); while if you’re looking for a discreet, versatile, everyday solid iris scent, then this is a totally compelling option, much better than others if you ask me (like Prada). In no way this is close to mainstream “office-safe” scents, as it is much more elegant and better made, but it would totally work as a safe scent for any circumstance. Plus, its texture is quite thin and discreet, yet there is room for a nice contrast of shades, from violet to grey to black-ish base nuances. The projection is more bold than one may think, and it lasts decently long enough. Not sure if it's worth the price (I know I say that for pretty much any scent), but in case of discounts or deals, it would surely be. Perfect for colder days.

I had to grow into it first
This beautiful specimen has been in my collection for over 5 years (probably even 6-7),
at the time it was my first niche fragrance, I don't even remember what possessed me at the time to blindly buy such an expensive fragrance - for beginners - without even trying it.
I still remember how I bought the fragrance on ebay. Used bottle, I was still surprised at the transparent glass, it was probably still the old design. I believed the seller, I had no idea.
So I sprayed it on for the first time, it was the height of summer, I was in my early 30s and on the subway on the way to my parents' house.
I remember shaking my head at the gentleman sitting opposite me in a pair of linen shorts that were far too tight and too short to fit. But that wasn't the only thing that didn't fit. That sweet iris note that kept running through my nose... It just didn't suit me either, not even the weather. Just far too sweet, almost sticky, artificial, heavy. It was so close to the Dior Homme DNA, which I already disliked at the time. Everything that shouldn't and didn't suit me at all. Back then.
Man, man, man... the first time I spent a bit more money and then such a bad purchase... great... Zegna, you devil, no more with me.
At some point, years later, I was supposed to change my department at work, and therefore also my office. So I also had to collect my "work bottles" ... that's when it fell into my hands again... well, you'll have to try it again... and then the magic happened.
Whether it's because something has happened to my own scent as my skin is now approaching 40, whether my nose is now niche-experienced enough, whether the juice in the bottle has matured and changed... i don't know.... But man... MAN! How much I love this fragrance now. The best iris, in my opinion... so professional, so confident, so calming. When I know things are going to get turbulent at work, this is my faithful companion. It surrounds me with the perfect cloud of relaxation and confidence. I have never experienced such a masculine soapiness. Bergamot and musk probably give the whole thing the bitter, rugged tone it needs to make iris, violet and jasmine palatable to me. I just need that edginess, I realized. The perfect composition for me. For many, this may not be enough, for me it's a complete 10/10, I couldn't wish for anything from this fragrance that it doesn't already fulfill. I'm already mourning the day when this now discontinued bottle is used up and I have to reorient myself. I have a great fear that nothing will be able to hold a candle to my friend Zegna. If you have the chance to buy it, you should take it. I usually find myself with my favorites with my nose buried in my wrist... that's not the case here. The sillage, the projection, simply ensure the perfect surge of fragrance into your nose time and time again. You don't have to do anything. Except let yourself fall. Into a sea of confidence and relaxation. Nothing can happen to you. You got this, believe me.
