Oudige Rosen
So, here they are, the Essenzialmente Laura fragrances. I don’t know them, have never heard of them before, so I’m curious about what awaits me here.
I start with the first fragrance that I pull out of the cardboard box. The name is Alioth, which doesn’t sound too bad at all. However, the "fragrance pyramid," which lists only a single fragrance component, I don’t like at all… oooh,… it’s Oud! One of my least favorite fragrance notes… well, it’s starting off well, but at least I’ll have the Oud behind me…
The horror,… I mean the fragrance:
Despite the Oud scent, I initially smell something floral-citrusy. I can’t pinpoint the citrus note exactly; it was probably lemon or bergamot, but it quickly fades and gives more space to the floral note. The floral note smells like roses.
You can smell the Oud throughout, but it doesn’t smell as strong or piercing as one sometimes experiences with other perfumes.
Personally, I don’t find the Oud scent great anyway, but here it smells not too bad in combination with the roses. A little later, despite the faded citrus notes, the fragrance somehow still smells bright or fresh, possibly slightly minty.
The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is above average and is probably even better if you spray more. A fragrance cloud definitely lingers, so it can be well perceived by someone nearby.
Despite the Oud scent, which I usually know to be more long-lasting, this fragrance lasts about six to eight hours on me, which is still good.
The bottle:
I can only describe the bottle based on photos. It looks like a light bottle with a matching label that has the name of the fragrance on it. The cap is cylindrical and bears the signature (?) of the perfumer in red lettering. Overall, it’s quite okay.
Okay, my fear of getting a pure, piercing, overwhelming Oud scent fortunately did not come true. Instead, you get a fresh rose scent with Oud undertones, which isn’t too bad, but smells a bit trivial.
Therefore, I can’t sing my well-known “Oud oud ouuuud, is not guuuut!” song, which is a relief for you, as you certainly don’t want to hear me sing…
In any case, the fragrance initially smells somewhat feminine due to the roses, but later it can also be considered a bit unisex. It is a fragrance that fits best in spring and autumn and could be used as a daytime or casual scent; if someone wants, they can also use it as an evening fragrance, although it becomes noticeably weaker after a few hours…
A test is not absolutely necessary, as you can smell such fragrances enough in other scents, and this one, in my opinion, has a slightly too high price.
