Gettone Filippo Sorcinelli 2026

Historical, maybe? One of those very old coins you can find at the flea market; it's dusty, covered in rust. Smells antique and forgotten.
The metallic notes in this one are strong, much for my pleasure.
It's a little hidden gem, I wish it was possible to purchase it alone but alas, Sorcinelli is made this way.
Not really melancholic, it speaks to me of centuries of being passed by and never chosen, and just waiting for someone to notice while you keep collecting mold. Lovely.

Currently (August 2026) available exclusively as a gift for purchase, Gettone pays homage to the "Gettone Telefonico" - a brass token that served as "currency" in Italian phone boxes for decades. The bottle itself is a MINIMAL work of art, featuring a genuine gettone plugged into the cap.

The olfactory journey begins with a moldy, damp incense... imagine walking into a rundown Italian bar where the air is thick with smoke and history. Early on, a rooty green vetiver and dense galbanum create a musty, enclosed atmosphere that feels incredibly nostalgic (for those who experienced it). It’s the smell of reaching into a pocket, feeling the cold brass of the token, and finding a scrap of paper from a phone book.

As it develops, the scent shifts toward a rugged, oil-treated leather. By the fourth hour, a medicinal, phenolic aspect emerges. This is reminiscent of antiseptic or even burnt rubber, which balances the composition into something cold and metallic. While some may find this stage challenging, I found it to be a great execution of "artistic perfumery."

The scent profile and the performance are surprisingly robust for a gift, pushing off the skin significantly for the first hour and leaving a consistent scent bubble for at least 6+ hours.
Gettone has restored my faith in the house of Sorcinelli. It’s relatively complex, evocative, and quirkily artistic.

While I do enjoy Filippo Sorcinelli's scent creations, they dont always hit the mark for me.
Sometimes the "story and description" of scents doesn't really line up with their smell.

In the case of Gettone its backstory and premise match perfectly with its smell.

Right off the bat, I'm getting some LAVS vibes - cold & aromatic incense.
There's also a very metallic and rusty profile in this that carries on until the drydown.
Gettone has a slightly dank vibe, which reminds me of cruising-area and Empty Wishes Well . It's a bit dusty, but not in a powdery sense - more like that scent of newspaper (somewhat reminiscent of Ink of Shadows )

So overall, this matches its description perfectly:

I'm imagining a detective from one of those film noir movies. They're wearing a trench coat. It's late at night as they're lighting a cigarette, walking towards the nearest public telephone booth. Taking a scrunched newspaper page out of their coat, they're calling that number that's written on it. Maybe it's another clue to that awful crime scene...
