Is it not somewhat ironic to classify a fragrance that pays homage to the personified male-centrism of the Catholic Church as unisex?
But perhaps we women are *included* when Sorcinelli evokes the fraternal atmosphere ("abbracci, saluti fraterni") in the Vatican...
Everyday life there probably looked like this: Morning toasts with overflowing goblets of Dr. Koch's Trink 10 (vintage), followed by a form-preserving stay in St. Peter's Basilica ("formalità all'interno della Basilica di San Pietro") despite the onslaught of a tour group of sweet-flowered perfumed pilgrim tourists. (Grazie a Dio, the wilted but still green stuff on the side altars has not yet been completely cleared away) In the evening a bit of coziness in the Vanillestüberl, otherwise the aforementioned friendly greetings to one another. Oh well.
Was this or something similar really a hyped fragrance at the time among candidates and colleagues (without -inside)? Not rather - as artificial as it smells - a cheerful Carrara marble plaster additive? And on top of that, the icing of the glorified past?
Transalpin at least, I don't remember any such vapors from Vatican returnees.
The bottle (although I only know it by sight): As original as it is, it only just scrapes past clerical kitsch imho. (In Sorcinelli's blessing sign series Memento then the carom?)
"Tu es Petrus" is a great name for a mediocre fragrance in my opinion. But Vatican is always attractive, and I fall for it too. If the fragrance was appropriately called "Eau Multivitaminée", I wouldn't have been interested in it.
I actually like Sorcinelli, but the increasing discrepancy - it seems to me - between the claim made in the perfume name and the fragrance result makes me skeptical.
So "Do it Peter" as a perfume name (without thought and remembrance of all the problems associated with this Bible verse) seems to me to be just a sensationalist, rather hollow façade for the purpose of enhancing banality. What a pity.
