Not just for men
This unisex fragrance is, much like the watch, for the confident.
Many women adore this for themselves as well...including me! The Tobacca and Cognac mix is not only unique but also extremely addictive. Some thing i love to wear in the evening as well as a crisp winters day as it definitely warms you up.

The Conquistador is Female!
Oh? Conquistador is a men's fragrance, so they say. I want to believe it...
However, since yesterday, it is a women's fragrance, namely mine.

I got to know Conquistador through a sample, for which I have already written a statement. It didn't take long for the decision to mature... a bottle must be had! Absolutely!!

Right after the first spray, I am completely taken. Conquistador immediately transports me to an almost mystical world. Everything around me seems to become a little quieter and softer.
The bottle is beautiful, very high-quality, and feels solidly golden in the hand. The scent is exceptionally complex, gentle, almost tender, yet very powerful. What may read as a contradiction is no longer so when you smell it.

Conquistador starts spicy and quite pronounced with juniper berries. They are slightly sweetened, as if they have been gently brushed with soft cognac. I smell smoky tobacco notes, something resinous, balsamic. Frankincense blends with a beautiful iris and buttery soft suede. Everything is harmoniously intertwined, no note is dominant - it smells very noble.

Conquistador lasts long on the skin. My husband initially found it a bit curious, wafting around the room, but the scent must have pleased him immensely, as he usually finds supposedly intrusive fragrances quite bothersome. Of course, it depends on the dosage, but if you don't overapply, Conquistador won't be overpowering either.

For the upcoming cooler season, Conquistador is one of my favorites and it definitely has the potential to become my new signature scent.

Fragility of Being
Immediately, after the first spray, I associated Franck Muller's Conquistador with a demanding film by director Darren Aronofsky, The Fountain. The film is an ode to the fragility of existence, to the finiteness of every human being, but not without glimmers of light and hope. The Fountain takes us into the mystical and the infinite.

Our existence, structured by temporality - and finiteness, which we can design freely to a certain extent, is defined by our transience. This very realization makes me wonder why we are so preoccupied with keeping our physical shell intact, often forgetting to nourish our spirit? We often act in our physicality away from reason, thus withdrawing from a demonstrably present mystical resonance space. The question is: Does death make us all too human?

The aforementioned film intertwines three temporal levels and episodes. One of the heroes is the Spanish conquistador Tomas, who at the beginning of the 16th century searches for a Maya sacrificial site in the jungles of Central America. There, he hopes to find the source of eternal life. He finds it in a Maya sanctuary, where resin from the tree of life makes him immortal.

This Tomas, the conquistador, is my testimonial for the fragrance of the watchmaker Franck Muller. In all his bravery and heroism, Tomas is one who accepts the radical finiteness of human existence and can still find something in life. The connection could not be more fitting. Franck Muller is the master of complications. The Fountain is a truly complicated and intricate story that demands the observer's full attention at all times. During the credits, I felt like I understood nothing and had the urge to watch the film again from the beginning.

Some perfumers boastfully and excitedly talk about olfactory journeys into the past, yet later in their own creations, they are unable to translate the grand announcements into actions. It sparkles and it is expensive. That's enough.

Perfumer Beverley Bayne has succeeded in creating something multidimensional that is neither hectic nor nervous. Beverly Bayne has created, among others, Eau Sans Pareil for Penhaligon's and seven fragrances for Clive Christian. She was also the president of the British Society of Perfumers. So, a woman of stature and not a blank slate.

Franck Muller's fragrance is described on the official website as “dark and sensual.” I experience the scent, similar to the film, as a metaphysical “journey into the self.” Charles Dickens once said: “I feel that small things make up the sum of life.” Likewise, this fragrance is a unity, a life made of many small particles. Like no other fragrance, this creation by Beverly Bayne is a self-contained universe.

Conquistador is neither a leather scent nor a gourmand. This fragrance cannot be pressed into a category. At least, I cannot. Conquistador is so much more.

The perfume from the house of many complications starts with the scent of an open cognac oak barrel, noble and elegant. A spicy-sweet note of juniper berry is clearly perceptible from the start. The opening alone is reason enough to buy this fragrance immediately. This scent is infinitely seductive, right from the beginning. Notes of peppery fruits with nuances of tobacco and truffle follow. As it develops, I discover a stunning nutty coffee note, micro-minimally earthy, blending with a delicate incense note. Simply wonderful.

But the best thing about this fragrance is the power of its own softness. None of the listed notes stands out, but all form a beautiful and homogeneous scent unit. On the skin, the fragrance lasts forever with a pleasant and unobtrusive sillage. Unfortunately, the fragrance is only available at Jovoy Paris. All attempts to contact Franck Muller in Switzerland were unsuccessful. The German distributors listed on the Franck Muller website definitely no longer carry Franck Muller. However, with a little patience, it works with Jovoy Paris as well.

I see Conquistador as a true gem that has received far too little attention on Parfumo to this day. I do not recommend this fragrance to people who enjoy controversial and polarizing scents. For that, Conquistador is simply too beautiful and harmonious.

Immortality will remain an unfulfilled wish of humanity. However, if we allow a little newness every day, while letting go of the eternally the same, the mystical and the infinite may show us a world beyond our temporal and finite existence.

Very helpful Review 11
FRANCK MULLER's GENEVE olfactory complication
Barely had a busy Paris Fashion Week concluded, I had to pay homage to my olfactory muse, and accordingly, a visit to Jovoy was on the agenda.
A highly risky endeavor, as one always hopelessly loses oneself as a perfume enthusiast in this temple of sin filled with tempting olfactory fruits.

Originally, only the study of "Fragrance du Bois" perfumes was on the list, but one simply cannot resist the temptation to explore other, still unknown scents.
Invited by Valérie to the back Séparée - how could I refuse such an invitation - my astonished eyes beheld a splendid golden display of Franck Muller Geneve!
Completely surprised that this Maître Horlogère now also offers perfumes, these had to be tested immediately.

Taking the magnificent bottle, with the referring lithography of the watch manufacturer F M G in hand, the elegant golden test carton was sprayed first, and immediately a cloud of full-bodied cognac, in which berries had seemingly been soaked for weeks, captivated the senses.
Another spray on the wrist to test the kick on the skin. What a broadside, one must first recover from...
To process this impression, attention was initially directed to the elegantly embossed test cartons, which were available in a long 5-display. Each of the five different scents had its own test card, on which the name of the fragrance was embossed.
Absolutely exemplary, to be able to assign them after testing several scents!
Once one had recovered from the first flash, it was time for fine analysis.
Still dominant, the fruity berry component remains present throughout the wear and is finely woven with floral notes.
Slowly, the warm, balsamic ingredients make their appearance and transform the perfume into an extremely animalistic scent, which likely contributes to its name. Nestled on leather, the various base notes engage in their lustful play, which lasts for hours and simply refuses to end.
Reapplied early in the evening before going out, the scent was still distinctly perceptible the next morning.

Thus, the test and purchase of Conquistador was a real surprise and gives the existence of F M G as a perfume brand its justification.

So, the visit to Jovoy was once again an olfactory trip of the highest level, which turned out to be costly, as I left this temple of sin with five new bottles and many samples, which are meant to entice one for the next trip...
