gentle Oriental
Cantabelle
I received this fragrance as a perfume extract from Grasse, brought back by a dear colleague during a factory visit to Galimard.
There, it is categorized as "Oriental."
Here is an excerpt from the Galimard website:
Cantabelle
A cheerful and fruity composition, merging with the orange and blackcurrant to reveal an opulent heart of sun-kissed delicate flowers.
The concept is elevated by a warm and sensual base of precious woods. An ode to femininity, both classical and contemporary.
I would generally describe the scent as fruity-floral-sweet-slightly spicy.
At first, I perceive the fruity-floral components more distinctly; as it develops, patchouli becomes quite prominent, along with amber and vanilla, while the fruits recede a bit.
The longevity of the perfume extract is good. The scent is not overwhelming, yet present, as it has a sufficient but not excessive sillage despite a certain restraint.
I can imagine it being pleasant for almost any time of day and year - except during hot summer temperatures due to the certain sweetness, which is by no means exaggerated, but could potentially be bothersome in the summer.
If I were to compare Cantabelle to another (perhaps slightly more well-known) fragrance, I would say it leans a little towards "Coco Mademoiselle," and in the base, it actually reminds me of a toned-down "Midnight Poison." Still, it certainly has its own unique character. The comparison is just meant to provide a rough direction.
Overall, it's an interesting scent that not everyone knows and wears, versatile enough for various occasions, and surely noticeable without ever being intrusive.
I like it and hope the 10ml lasts for a while.
